I ran the ST. George Marathon this morning, I had 3 goals today the gold standard was BQ, the Silver was a sub 3:30 and then the bronze was a PR. It ended up being the bronze, but thats better than no medal at all. The weather was perfect with a slight tail wind at the start, it got a little warmer towards the end but way better than last year. I was doing really well and feeling really good until mile 17 , 18 and my old calf injury came back to haunt me... I had to stop a few times and have it worked on and it seemed to help get me through the rest of the race, and then I had to stop for a major potty break around mile 22 and that cost me some serious minutes.

Here are my splits:

Mile 1 7:57

Mile 2 8:25 had a potty break here.

Mile3 7:37 A little to fast on that one.

Mile 4 7:59

Mile 5 8:11

Mile 6 7:58

Mile 7 8:03

Mile 8 9:06 Veyo and I took it pretty easy which was the plan.

Mile 9 8:25

Mile 10 8:31

Mile 11 8:31

Mile 12 8:03 I was pretty Happy with this stretch as this is usually where I lose it but I felt really good.

Mile 13 7:55

Mile 14 8:19

Mile 15 7:37 Downhill and I probably went a little to fast on this one but still feeling pretty good.

Mile 16 7:55 Better pace here.

Mile 17 8:57 Calf started to flare up big time.

Mile 18 9:15 Calf ouch!

Mile 19 9:26 Calf.

Mile 20 8:53 Calf feeling a little better.

Mile 21 8:00 Trying to hang tough!

Mile 22 10:27 Major Potty Break, no choice here just really feeling bad!

Mile 23 8:34 Still trying to hang tough.

Mile 24 8:29 Hanging in there. Calf feeling better.

Mile 25 9:02 Stopped to text my wife, whichI will never do that again . Cost about a minute.

Mile 26 8:39 I realize here that I still have a chance to PR so I try to pick it up!

Last .20 2:17 7:49  Really giving it all I had to the finish.

It feels pretty good to PR for a change, but oh what could have been with a little more luck... But I'll take it and move on to a better day and keep after it.

Unofficial Time as I haven't checked the results but a 1:00 and plus PR according to my watch.

Now its  offical 3:42:18, I was off by one second.

I'm going to be taking some time off to recover from this Race probably a couple of weeks, or maybe more it depends on my body and mind, on the recovering part, HAHA!.

Clay! You are so funny. Your bronze was a PR! Well that is freaking awesome. You need to take some quick potty break lessons from me. 20 seconds tops! It is hard, though, to make it quick when you are hurting and it is late in the game.

Josse- thanks!

Michelle- A twenty second potty break!!! Yes I could use a potty lesson, maybe we could face time that!!! HaHa!

Clay, 1,000 commando points for the PR, you have had it tough over the last couple of years, good to see your hard work pay off.
