Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

I can definately tell that Saturday took some oomph out of me, I'm more just tired that anything. However, I got up and at 'em this morning... I did Heidi's step class then went and did 5 miles on the TM at 0-1% incline and a steady pace of 7 mph (8:30 mm I think) until the last 1/2 mile then I kept ramping up the speed just to finish more than anything, I don't remember how fast I finished at. My mental workout today was to keep the TM at 7 and not let it go below that, so I moved the incline when I felt I could do more or less. I did have an overall gain of 200 plus feet though, so I did a decent job keeping the incline up. Good recovery run, and from the email description looks like tomorrow is going to be fun too! I better get some good sleep tonight :)

Met the BBK's for tempo/hill work this morning. We did warmup's then a tempo to 'pace out' the group, then paired up (one end of the line with the other) for the relay races. I ended up right in the middle and was paired with Becky right next to me - that felt PERFECT for me! We did a great job on the shorter flat sprints, but after a short recovery and then  being told the next relay was on hills we both looked at each other and said "I'm no good at hills" and laughed. We pulled a little more towards the bottom on that one, but I know we were still pushing hard for ourselves! During those relays (and a .75 recovery jog) I had a 7:42 mm; 7:24 mm and 7:52mm so I was feeling GREAT! It kicked my butt; however, it was well worth the effort. I always feel so much better about runs when I'm done...I guess it must be that silly runner's high.

I then went to the gym to get my resistance in - 1hr body building class. Then finished off with an additional 3 easy miles on the TM (about 9-9:30 mm). I'm really trying to get some good mileage in this week, because I'm going to miss my long run on Saturday because I'll be in Barcelona....hmmm okay, I won't complain!

Went to the gym and did kickboxing this morning, arms were sore from resistance class yesterday. Felt like I was only at 60% effort all class, I was just drained. It also could've been the issue of not eating breakfast this morning either. After class, went to the TM and did 5 on a decline at 8:20 mm, then ramped up the last mile to finish faster and went up to 7:20 mm. Then, just to test myself mentally I kept the pace, but put the incline up and ran that way for 2 minutes time. Finished just over 5 miles. Great workout and now I'm ready to takle the day! A big welcome home goes out to Kelli today! Thats the fastest 5 miles I've run on a TM since you left... I really missed you!

Met the BBK's for a great tempo hill run. Was feeling very sluggish today, I think I'm demading a lot out of my body this week after the 20 on Saturday. I did pretty well keeping a decent pace: 8:38 for the full 10. There were a few in the low 8's and one at 7:43, but that one was some good downhill :) Afterward I got to spend a great hour at the gym in yoga stretching and relaxing. Now, its time to get all the laundry and cleaning done to get ready for the cruise tomorrow....YEA!!

REALLY REALLY REALLY wanted to get to the gym this morning, but its not going to happen :( too much to do before 1:00!! I'm really bummed about only getting in 32 this week so maybe I'll try to get some in Saturday in Barcelona. I guess I need a good rest day today... I just wanted to do something for myself before I sat on a plane for 13 hours and couldn't move. I'll love being there, but I hate getting there! Have a wonderful weekend, I'll have to check in and see how all the long run Saturdays went... ENJOY!
