Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

WARNING: This is a whining blog entry today, if you don't want to hear it stop now!!!

After sleeping all night (I got out of my 7 PM appt) on the couch and in bed I still woke up feeling blechy. I just feel like all I want to do is sleep. I don't think I've missed running group, as my own decision, for MONTHS!! However, last night I decided I wasn't going this morning. I have also done something to my right hip flexor, I can barely limp on it. Last night in bed as I tossed and turned I would wake up each time due to the pain. I felt it a little yesterday on the TM, but it is out of control today :( Seriously, why do we have to fall apart all at once??

I got up and went to yoga thinking it would warm me up and then I would feel good to do zumba, but not luck. I couldn't even do most of yoga class! So, I packed up and came home. We are supposed to listen to our bodies right?? I really wish I didn't have to, but right now I need to.

I hoping that with a good restful day today I can get back at it tomorrow and hopefully finish with at least 30 miles this week. I'm really kind of bummed that I won't be over or at 40 this week :(

Devine Miss M - Hey, good time of year to take a few days off, maybe your body is telling you to rest. Syvlie has taken two weeks off with little affect on her conditioning. Eat your favorite ice cream, ice from the inside out, relax, running will still be there in a few days. By the way, Devine Miss M has her Deva days.

Let it go, let IT GO.....do what you can do, stretch, excersize--but most of all sleep and take care of yourself. Sometimes your body will stop you cold when there are bigger fish to fry. Here's where all that hard earned mental tenacity and patience come in handy. Be good!

Wisdom includes knowing when to stop and take it easy. You need to take care of yourself. Rest, get some good food in you, don't try to be a super woman. You are super enough without running 40 miles.

I really missed you this morning, you were in my thoughts. I really don't like the sounds of this entry. You seemed to be going very strong, and I can't believe that this all had to happen. Good for you to listen to your body. Take care. It's okay to whine a little bit on the blog...

It's alright to not have a 30 miles week. It IS OKAY to take a break from running. You are smart to listen to your body. It will thank you later. I'm with Brent...this is a good time of year to take days off. Take care! Hope that hip flexor behaves soon.

I'm so sorry you're not feeling well. It's so frustrating when your body is telling you one thing, but your brain wants to do something else. It's definitely smart to get the rest your body is telling you you need.

Hey! I just read that you were expecting in June! That's great! Congratulations!!! Okay, now you definitely need to rest!

Thanks all! Things are better today, amazing what a little rest will do. E gets the prize for being the most observant on the updated personal info :)

I will take whatever advice anyone has to give on running through these next 7 months....

So now I know why you weren't at running group. Congratulations on the pregnancy! That is very exciting.

From Cal on Fri, Nov 13, 2009 at 15:35:38 from 66.133.117.3

Congratulations Rachel. I didn't notice your updated info until after E mentioned it. But it sounds like it was a recent change so i don't feel as bad now...
