Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

I did it! I did it! I got out and ran!! I can finally say I'm a runner again. I've turned from a snot faced troll to a snot faced runner :) It was stupid of me NOT to bring a whole BOX of tissues with me, but that's what gloves and sleeves are for, right?

It was nice and easy, and with about 1/2 inch of powdery snow newly fallen a little slippery. I just did the stake 5K loop, then picked up Lucy and did a flat 1 mile to get her out and finish off.

The first mile was downhill and I saw 2 sets of footprints from other runners, entertained myself for a bit thinking about who it could be. Then the 2nd mile I saw 3 sets of footprints, imagined running with them (although the prints were going the wrong way) and remembered the last time I'd run that loop with Kelli and how I miss my running buddies! This mile and the next were all UPHILL and about 2.5-3.5 were on unplowed neighborhood streets that made the going MUCH slower, but I felt a steady effort. Just before finishing 3 I got my final downhill and finished at my house at 3.25. When I took Lucy, it was on a busier neighborhood street so it was all plowed and I didn't have to run in the snow. I was finally able to run a descent pace again. I'm honestly really embarrassed that I had over 10 mm, but I guess I shouldn't expect too much after how I've been feeling!

Well, I'm just happy to be out again and ready to get back at it next week! Today I am grateful for modern medicine and Zofran that has allowed me to eat some these past few days!

Hooray! Now you're my favorite snot faced runner. I use my sleeves all the time. That's why I wear a clean shirt for every run.

NICE run Rachel! Your pace is FLYING compare to mine...nothing to be embarrassed about! Running on snowy road is supposed to be slower but sure worked the legs and feet; not to mention balance. NICE JOB!!! SO GLAD you got out and is now a bonafide snot faced runner!!!! :)

Devine Miss M - your running mission has taken a different road, road best traveled, for the next few months. There is time a plenty in the future for hardcore snotless runs. Always nice to keep the mind wandering during runs, makes the time fly.

I'm glad you were finally feeling well enough to run. I was even slower in the snow than I usually am but at least we made the effort.

I hope that this week goes better for you and you are able to get out and get those miles in you are planning on.

Carolyn, I may have to try the clean shirt thing :)

Smooth, oh my dear...I HEARD about your waist deep run, it doesn't even compare! It was nice to be a little sore today.

Brent, VERY different road! I'll track down the snow ghost sometime :)

Nancy, this snow running is SO crazy. I don't remember being this slow in the snow last year!

Bec, I'm going to have to forfeit some of the miles...forgot Hubby is gone ALL week!!! So, the gym, daycare and TM it will be :)
