Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

30 minutes on the bike until my ITB was screaming at me and I could hardly pedal w/out screaming in pain. 9 miles w/topping out the resistance out at 4% and ending at 2.5%

Then went to the body flow class... everything literally 'came out' during that class :( Final relaxation was nice though!

Why oh why has my ITB decided to start screaming at me? I'm not running...haven't run in a week! It's been just over a month since my cortizone shot. My opposite hip flexor is keeping me from running and now my ITB is keeping me off the bike? Does my body really want me to get fat, fat, fat and lazy?!? I'm SO SO SO stinkin' sick of this!! Marion helped me tons with suggestions on the hip flexor yesterday (thanks a bunch!!) and finally convinced me to get into the PT. I don't know why I'm bothering sometimes, my whole body is just falling apart piece by piece by piece - why bother at this point??

OH Rachel! SOOO SORRY to hear that the ITB is acting up! It's OK to take a "maternity leave" from working out. I know you're used to exercising ALOT pre-pregnancy and it's driving you NUTS not able to do it now. It's winter and holidays and all...be kind to yourself. Continue to eat healthy and do minimum non-hurting exercises (more for the mind than anything else). STAY HEALTHY and HAPPY!

Hope you have a GREAT HOLIDAY with your cute little family. LOVE YOU!

Oh, poor Rachel. I'm going to come see you next week and give you a big hug.

Maybe that little one inside of you wants you to get fat.

Oh dear RAD. I want you to feel better. PT is the best answer I can think of right now. When are you suppose to get over this morning sickness junk? No bueno.

Swimming? Try to swim some.

Smooth, thanks. I feel like I am on 'maternity leave'! My poor mind is going crazy, plus I miss all my running friends like no one can believe!! I was doing easy bike, my ITB NEVER bugs on the bike!! I honestly think the corizone shots messed something up good in there!! Oh, and I'd love to eat healthy if my body would let me. I swear, junk goes down and stays...healthy comes right back up! I'm not even pretending to understand anything about my body right now!!

Carolyn, I'm so excited you're coming out!! I will run...I will run...I will run! Maybe the PT will have a magic fix for me on Monday and I'll be 100% better by Tuesday and we can run :) If not we'll just drown my sorrows at Kneaders :) oh, yeah...my kids always want the opposite of what I do - so it wouldn't surprise me one bit!

Becca, I'd love to swim! However, that becomes a money issue. My gym was paid in full w/day care for 3 years. If I go swim I have to pay $5 to get in plus $2.50 per hour for chuck a child! Seeing as we've already cut budgets for Christmas, it may not be a good idea :(

Morning sickness for me lasts until about 20-25 weeks along, traditionally anyway. So, by the first/mid of Feb I should be back to 'normal' as far as that goes. This morning I just forgot to take my zofran before I went to the gym. That is why I love that drug so much!! The nausea is still there, but at least the barfing goes away!

Devine Miss M - What would Rachel Rachel do? I wonder? I wonder? Sing to the clouds - eat her weight in bon bons - cry a river of tears - All of these may help for a few moments, then the reality of the ITB appears. Good luck with the PT. If this were a reality show - running addiction recovery with Mr. T - what would be the recovery steps sucker? Burn all your running shoes in a bone fire atop your favorite hill, get a mohawk - have target practice at your finishing medals - ban blogging - no use of running jardon, ban the use of PR, splits- Or, how about extreme running makeover with the Penguin - leg massages 3 times a day, your pick of 10 new running shoes, personal PT daily, wind always at your back while running- via a big fan, running partners that always let you win, races that give great Tech shirts, the list goes on.

Stay Kool, Merry Christmas, B of BS Rools out

Listen to Smooth, I think she is right on, be kind to yourself cute girl!!! Happy Holidays!!!

From RAD on Tue, Dec 22, 2009 at 15:03:08 from 67.172.229.125

Brent, thank for that! I really needed it today! Addiction recovery might break me, so I'm going with extreme makeover! More hope and peace in that one :)

Okay, so confession: A friend invited me to the BYU candy counter with her yesterday morning, so I can honestly say I think I have actually eaten my weight in bon-bons :)

From RAD on Tue, Dec 22, 2009 at 15:04:00 from 67.172.229.125

Thanks Leslie, but sometimes I feel I'm being too kind :) Since I'm eating sugar and spice and everything nice does that mean I'll have a girl?

I wondered where you disappeared to during class---sorry it was not for a nice break!! That sucks, I do feel for you!!!
