Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:


Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Okay, I'm putting this out there. Please don't take this the wrong way, but I'm struggling. I feel like every run is hard. I can't pick up speed without hurting and I just feel like Boston is going to suck it up big time. I'm really trying to get out of my head, but I just can't! I asked a friend, that I had discussed Buffalo Run with, how to take away all the cortisol I feel building up. How to feel happy again. She said to list out the crap and throw it away and list my accomplishments and strengths and put them on my mirror. 

So, I'm blatantly fishing here. I'm having a hard time. I've neglected my FRB family too long. I think this may be part of my problem. I draw SO much strength and support from all of you and I'm missing that. The demons in my head are taking over. HELP! I need some support and some reminder of where of I've come from and that this isn't going to be a suffer fest, but that I can sit back, relax and enjoy it and not die. I can run. I belong in Boston with all of those amazing people I've looked up to an admired for YEARS. I'm struggling, so I'm begging my FRB family for help...I can do this, right?

You're going to ROCK IT!! I always feel like this before a big race, seriously don't let it get to you! Boston is an incredible experience, so just go soak in every minute!! Many people work their whole lives and never get this opportunity, you've already won!

First off, I remember when you got geared up for your first marathon... Not too long ago. You have always been a fighter, no matter what!! You have earned your Boston the hard way, literally through sweat, tears, pain, ups and downs, and some kick butt running!! I am rooting for you 100%. I even think you can PR Boston very easily.

Steve, (Walter's friend) whom I have never met, prints out his FRB from the past few months before big races. I think he reads them on the bus ride to the start of the marathon... Anyway, I strongly suggest you look at a few of your favorite training runs these past few weeks. Your 10k time was among one of the reports you should read. :)

You will LOVE Boston. Enjoy every step of the way. Smile, cry, and even laugh if you want, just take it all in! You only get one first time Boston. You will feel re-born, promise.

You said it! You do deserve your Boston and you'll do great. Just remember to enjoy it and experience your race and no one else's. I listened to a podcast today during my run and it might help you. It's a Rich Roll interview of Chris McCormack. Give it a listen. It was a good listen and I needed it also.

I think it just takes a few weeks to get your strength back especially when you were as sick as you were. Hang in there and don't push too much and it will get better.

Snip those negative thoughts out of your head. Don't allow yourself to dwell on them. Focus on the positive. You are so great at running at this distance. You have done it so many times ... Boston just has more hype. Don't put pressure on yourself ... just enjoy the experience.

Seriously??? Come on Rach! You are awesome! You've been killing the runs this winter...you're running fast and long (while talking all the way through it) :) Just recoup from the Buffalo which I'm just guessing takes a huge toll on the bod (since the longest i've run is 27.7 I don't know, but I know what a hard 26.2 feels like) and as a result your psyche as well. Boston should just a blast...you made it...you earned it...so enjoy it! You're breathing right? So it is a truly GREAT DAY to BE ALIVE! Heart! Body! Soul! I know you'll give all three 100%. oH my my, look whos got a case of the taper madness! Hey woman, chill out.Go to Boston with the only goal being to finish. Try to get past all the hype as it will only drain your strength. Go the the Expo, get you bib and goodie bag and then go to your room or some where quiet and get settled down. Do most or all your tourist stuff after the race! The Boston is so much fun and so exciting on so many fronts, you just have to settle down and take time to smell the roses!

Hey, when you get close to the 2 mile mark please get to the left hand side of the road and high five all my peeps that will be lining the street by the Biker Bar!!!!! there really great fans!!!
