Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Another ride. I just have to say, when I run I don't really notice the day light slipping away so quickly in the morning, but when you need light to ride? You notice that 6AM is just too dark anymore to start. poo. I don't want fall and winter to come yet.

22 miles with Heidi, another TTT friend. She was a great person to ride with...I really like her and she runs too! Yipee! Who can't use another running friend?

Good course and we kind of took it easy on the flat/downhill parts and just rode next to each other (what you could) and chatted. But 15mph for the ride isn't bad either. Especially for getting a good chatty ride in. Oh, I miss my running peeps.

The foot is still getting noticeably better each day. It really is more like a stinky case of PF now than anything. I'm sure a lot of runners run all the time with the amount of pain I'm in now (which isn't a lot). But, I don't want this horrible "I can't walk/function" pain to come back when I jump back in, so I'm going to wait until Monday to run again.

The amazing news is that tomorrow morning my family (8yr old, 11 yr  AND hubby!!!) are going to do a triathalon. I'm impressed my hubby was willing to do it. It is a super sprint distance - 150M swim, 4.6 mile ride and 1 mile run, yup just ONE mile! I guess they only have like 30 people signed up. I should do it :) ha! Whatever. I'll be the cheerleader this time and watch and let them have the glory. I really am excited to see my hubby do it! I hope he likes it :) even just a little bit.

So, that is at 8AM - then my 8 yr old is getting baptized at noon. It will be a crazy morning! So, today I have to do everything (yard work, house work, ironing etc) to get ready for the party. Blech. Worst part of a party!

This also leads me to my next question...anybody willing to ride with me on Saturday? I want to try and get a good 3 hours in to get my 20 miler worth of cardio done. I know it isn't the same, but I've got to trust my body that it can run Park City and I was going to run a 20 tomorrow before the tri, but I just can't bike in the dark like I can run in the dark. Poo. Anyway, I'd really love some company in the evening if anyone is willing!!

I love that you are being so smart. I think we sometimes think it's a badge of honor to run through pain, but in the long run it just causes more harm. Good luck to your cute family tomorrow in their Tri, sounds like fun!!!

So happy that your kids and hubby are doing the Tri tomorrow and then a baptism too! What a wonderful day you have planned! good luck as well with the evening ride! You amaze me with all that you do! You really have nothing to worry about Park City. I have not run a long run since April 28 and I am slower than tar these days! I plan to walk ALOT. You are being super smart to not run or test out the foot. I am 100% certain that you are doing the right thing! :)

I do not know how you manage to squeeze so much into 24 hours. You are truly amazing Rachel. Enjoy your day tomorrow and I hope you find someone to ride with you. I could maybe make it 45 minutes on the bike tops. I'm a terrible biker!

Devine Miss M - always great to see the family follow your lead, future Tri geeks, we need more cow bell. About the ride, I would, but, I need to tend Sylive, had some serious orthodonic work done. Good luck on the ride. The deserte sharks have several rides, sign up for their blog, or check out the sight, someone may be going for a ride. Also, the Bonneville bike club does long rides on the week end.

Good luck, moon shadow, without cat.

I'd join you if I had a road bike and if we didn't already have a ton of other things planned. I hope you can find someone to ride with.

I think you are very smart to ride bikes and let your foot heal. If I had seen this post earlier maybe Shannon and I could have ridden your direction.

Carina, thanks. I'm finally really getting the itch to run and having a hard time being smart. Good thing the pain reminds me.

Smooth, thanks for the reassurance. I can't wait to do PC, just enjoy the morning with you! No worries about pace for me. 4/1 run/walk? I'm in! :) Just no DNF's, right?

Rachelle, you should've joined us for the Lehi tour. Oh, and I don't believe you wouldn't last on the bike. I think you'd surprise yourself.

Brent, thanks to your tip of asking Di I met up with Heather and I had one of the best rides EVER with her! I seriously could've gone another 20 miles or so. No joke! You're a good man to Sylvie. I hope she gets feeling better.

Dale, I did get a good ride partner. I was lucky to not have any Sat evening plans...it is a rarity around here.

Nancy, no worries. I found someone that was great and that tagged along the full miles with me - it was awesome!
