Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Just an easy 3 with Sandra and tag along Lucy. Seeing as the AP was 9:42 I would like to say it felt easy...but it didn't. You forget how much a marathon takes out of your legs - and for how long! I'm sure some of it is the injury, but it really is feeling much better (90%). Just lead legs!

Now I'm off to yoga, still not sick - and hoping I can avoid it!

I'm thinking I'd like to do 12 easy miles Saturday - flat. Anyone game for Lehi JRP? anytime?

Oh, if you can see my new picture it is when I went and shared my medal with my dad for a while after UVM. Thought I'd post it in honor of father's day this weekend.

I'll keep an eye out for that new picture. But I will miss seeing the "Bionic Woman" picture on your blog.

Wasn't Father's Day last weekend :)

From RAD on Thu, Jun 16, 2011 at 10:55:25 from 98.202.17.113

it's up now!

From Carolyn in Colorado on Thu, Jun 16, 2011 at 10:59:35 from 76.25.72.82

A marathon really does take it out of you.

That's a nice tribute to your dad.

Father's Day is this coming weekend and I've got to get crackin' and do something for my husband.

From allie on Thu, Jun 16, 2011 at 11:40:55 from 24.10.191.18

it's perfectly reasonable to have lead legs after a marathon :) i am glad you haven't caught the dreaded stomach bug yet. hopefully you can fight it off.

oh how i would love a saturday morning JRP run with RAD. someday, someday...

From bye-wing on Thu, Jun 16, 2011 at 11:41:34 from 110.168.50.28

Strange, but I still see the "Bionic Woman" picture. I'll check again tomorrow.

From Chad on Thu, Jun 16, 2011 at 11:42:12 from 168.177.153.138

I think the tunnel under main street is still flooded, you'll have to go around. I'd like to join for maybe 6 or 7 of the twelve. I'm just not ready for that many miles.

From Steam8 on Thu, Jun 16, 2011 at 13:00:23 from 166.70.55.77

I love your new pic. It made me a bit teary. I am dreading the day, my dad is 82.

Glad to see you are back at it!

From Smooth on Thu, Jun 16, 2011 at 16:29:44 from 67.2.124.123

Rachel ~ Glad you didn't get the tummy flu your kids had. Looks like you're doing very well with your recovery. Lead legs are to be expected especially when yours are twice as long as mine! :)

That picture brings tears to my eyes! I don't even have a father's grave to visit. Was he really only 63? SO SO SO YOUNG!!! Love you!

From Smooth on Thu, Jun 16, 2011 at 16:33:10 from 67.2.124.123

I'm game for Lehi JRP on Sat.

From RAD on Thu, Jun 16, 2011 at 16:36:52 from 98.202.17.113

Carolyn, me too! Sometimes I just wish it was last week and already over with.

Allie, It just gets me, because they feel FINE until I try to run, then blech! They don't want to move. When you're ready for a slower long run we will meet up on the parkway for good times!

Bye-wing, your computer just likes the bionic woman picture better :)

Chad, really? Stink! How do you get around? Maybe you'll have to come just so we know how to get around it. Don't feel used or anything - we'd take you either way :)

Steam, my dad went too young - only 63. Two of my children haven't met him here. stinks, just plain stinks!

Smooth, yup. Just before he passed someone asked me how old he was and I said "he'll be 64 on his birthday" it was just a couple months away. Then I started crying realizing that he was only 63 and wouldn't ever make it to 64. I am grateful I have somewhere to visit, but I know he's with me more than he is there :) It's more just a quiet place to think about him.

I like the idea that it takes me longer to recover since I have more legs :) I've now got another good excuse!

From Chad on Thu, Jun 16, 2011 at 16:46:48 from 168.177.153.138

It's not hard. Exit Willow Park on the east, play frogger across main street, then find your way west through that Jordan Willows subdivision.

From Scott Wesemann on Thu, Jun 16, 2011 at 17:02:07 from 66.239.250.209

Hey I am interested in the JRP on Sat. I would love to do between 10-15 and it needs to be flat. Let me know if you end up going. I would prefer an early start. scott.wesemann@xo.com

From Lily on Thu, Jun 16, 2011 at 17:09:03 from 67.199.178.210

I need a long run this weekend.

From RAD on Thu, Jun 16, 2011 at 17:18:41 from 98.202.17.113

Chad, it's the 'find your way through that subdivision' part that scares me! :) We may just all end up at your house if you don't come!

Scott, It would be great to have you! Smooth is checking with Karen on a time she needs, but I'm flexible.

Lily, if you'd like to come, come! We always have a party :) However, you could probably do 20 in the time us slow lead legs can finish 12! We'll send you ahead as the scout, or you'll have to bring Melody and Merri to keep up with you - or just play it pokey slow with the fun group :)

From Lily on Thu, Jun 16, 2011 at 17:20:15 from 67.199.178.210

I'll just play Michelle Lowrys part and run up ahead and circle back and chit chat :)

From Chad on Thu, Jun 16, 2011 at 17:37:38 from 168.177.153.138

I'd love to come. Who can I ride piggy-back when I can't go anymore?

From Lily on Thu, Jun 16, 2011 at 17:39:32 from 67.199.178.210

Chad I'll do it

From RAD on Thu, Jun 16, 2011 at 17:44:07 from 98.202.17.113

HA! Chad, I was going to say Lily will do it. Might just slow her down enough so that we can keep up with her :)

I will let y'all know when Smooth gets back to me with a specific time. I'm thinking around 7ish?

From RAD on Thu, Jun 16, 2011 at 19:29:01 from 98.202.17.113

7AM it is at Lehi JRP (1500N). If you need directions let me know. Come one, come all! Allie, bring your roller skates and we can tie a rope onto someone so you can keep up! :)

From Terri on Thu, Jun 16, 2011 at 19:47:25 from 96.231.237.164

I still see Bionic woman picture too. Take it easy on your 12 miler and enjoy!

From Carina on Thu, Jun 16, 2011 at 20:05:57 from 204.15.86.83

If I wasn't doing Ragnar I'd so be there!! I hear you with the legs thing, that marathon was brutal!!

From RAD on Fri, Jun 17, 2011 at 00:11:13 from 98.202.17.113

Terri, I don't get why some can see it and some can't - just come back again soon :)

Carina, I think it was the concrete. I don't know, my legs are just tired and heavy! I don't know how you can be up for Ragnar this weekend. I think I could do it, but it certainly wouldn't be fast!

From Scott Wesemann on Fri, Jun 17, 2011 at 12:51:00 from 66.239.250.209

I'm planning on being there. I'll see you at 7:00.

From Chad on Fri, Jun 17, 2011 at 15:16:38 from 208.186.134.105

I ran by last night and the tunnel under main street is still flooded with 6 feet or more. Only people training for a triathlon will be able to cross. The rest of us will have to go around.

From RAD on Fri, Jun 17, 2011 at 18:08:50 from 98.202.17.113

Scott, See you there!

Chad, I say we go for it! :)
