Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

25 miles on my new spiffy bike - outside, in the freezing cold. My toes never warmed up, took 30 min to thaw when I got home!

George and my neighbor Jessica rode with me at 7:30 this morning. I only felt like I was going to die a few times :) it is SO different to have a n.i.c.e. bike! I kept forgetting where the brakes were.

My legs are already thanking me (especially those little aches I've developed this week) for not running today. I was going to run a 5K afterward, but decided to shower and join the family at the Easter egg hunt. Problem? my husband took off with both sets of keys to his car (mine were in my purse in the family car he had). Crap. So, I threw on my bike shoes and pedaled off as fast as I could. The park is only 1.5 from home, so I knew I could make it fast. Plus, without having to park I could probably do it faster on the bike anyway :) I was about 100yds from the 4 yr old area (the kid I was going to go watch/supervise) when the horn went off to start. So, I got to watch the egg hunt! Awesome :) Then I rode home just in time to start work.

I hope that this is a good predictor for the day! I need a good day today - lots to do and little time to get it all done.

How's your butt doing? Is that too personal?

I'm jealous of your new bike, but not jealous of you riding in the cold weather. Glad you made the Easter egg hunt on time. I love taking my bike everywhere I go because I NEVER have to worry about where to park! The only problem is when you go to the grocery store and then you buy too much and have to carry it all back home on your bike :) Keep enjoying your new bike, the weather should be warming up soon.

Sad that I am on the same train of thought as Burt!! I remember my first bike ride I decided to go 20 miles. By the time I got home my butt hurt so bad!!!! I think it tainted me about the bike a little bit, but it actually was a nice alternative to running :)

From Burt on Sun, Apr 08, 2012 at 21:59:06 from 72.223.93.158

What's so sad about that Carina??? You better get back to your crampin' and contractin'!

From RAD on Sun, Apr 08, 2012 at 22:25:28 from 98.202.23.178

Rachelle, it was a great day!

Smooth, I enjoyed doing something different on a Sat morning for once. Now to buckle down for Ogden...

Becca, only new to me. It is a cannondale caad 3 - dark blue. I like it :)

Nancy, as I'm sure you know - riding is a nice break from running!

Burt, no nothing is too personal on the blog :) Lets just say I may be investing in some bike shorts.

QP, it was a crazy ride out there for sure! However, riding across the grass was my favorite part "everybody mooove!"

bye-wing, if I picked up a pack of gum it might disrupt the balance on this bike :) okay, not really, but the skinny tires scare me and there is NO way I'm pedaling all the way uphill home with the babyseat!

Brent, you'll have to take me on a ride sometime and give me a breakdown of dos and don'ts on rides. As well as a laundry list of things I'll need to stay warm. My feet were FREEZING!

Toby, just keep moving onward and upward, right? :)

Carina, it wasn't as horrible as my first spin class. I thought since spin was easy on the butt I'd be fine...well, not so. However, the soreness isn't hanging around for a long time. If I did a 2+ hour ride I'd definitely want bike shorts...or a big comfy seat :)

Burt, all that crampin' and contractin' is YOUR business! :)
