Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Last night when I went to bed I was sure I had strep. Body aches, tired, swollen throat, stuffy nose, each minute getting worse. So, I bagged getting up early and decided I needed the sleep more. 9 hours later I woke up feeling good - excellent!

Took baby comando-destruco to nursery and left with high hopes. Six miles later I picked him up with no bad reports! whew! Must be my lucky day.

2 miles @ 4% - 9:40, 9:25

3 miles @ 2% - 8:42, 8:25, 8:30

1 mile @ 1% - sub 8:00 - started at 8:00 then went progressively faster each quarter, then the last quarter I increased every .05 to finish with a 7:30 the last .05

Yes, I know I cheated, but I needed to be done, quickly. I figured one mile at 1% couldn't hurt too much, especially if I want to run outside tomorrow.

I wanted to do masters swim afterward, but since I didn't want to leave Buster in the nursery 2 hours (I would be pushing my luck, I'm sure!) I decided to try their mom & me swim class. It is 30 min of water aerobics for mom while holding/playing with baby, then 20 min of a swim class for baby and then 10 min free play. Fartlek LOVED the class, big smiles and lots of fun - the aerobics part wasn't really much to shout about, but being able to workout with my baby was totally worth the smiles on his face. I may have to start taking him every Tuesday!

TT for the 6 miles: 53:20 - AP: 8:53; oh my 8's, how I've missed you!!! 800ft of vert.

So, last chance...anyone in for an 8:30ish birthday run tomorrow? Starting at the District and ending at my house (about 7 milesish). I think there may be a possiblity of stopping by keaders on the drive back to the district for some breakfast....

I'm glad you listened to your body and gave it the rest it surely needed. Nice miles and pace today!

Awesome workout!! You are making such great progress and I am so happy for you.

Totally wish I could join you tomorrow. I'll be thinking about you and sitting at work jealous if thats any consolation. :)

What do you think the pace will be?

From RAD on Tue, Feb 14, 2012 at 15:25:43 from 98.202.23.178

Melody, more than anything I don't want to be sick on my birthday - I've got big plans :) Plus, I'm a sucker for an excuse to sleep in!

Rachelle, it is nice to hit some 'normal' paces again and feel good with them. I know I should be running at a 2% incline all the time on the TM, so I hoping to just leave it there now that I'm used to it. We'll see :) Oh, and you have my permission to eat something VERY yummy in my honor tomorrow!

Catherine, I will just run what everyone else runs. I'm easy that way :) it is a slightly uphill course, but I did that on purpose so I could be outside and still obey Dr's orders to run on an incline. I don't think it is going to be fast by anymeans. I'm guessing around a 9 - just a shot in the dark. If you want to come and bring Elliott, I would be happy to trade off pushing times too.

From Toby on Tue, Feb 14, 2012 at 21:16:46 from 199.101.229.254

Umm...I've been running and I'm still not at an 8 pace. I need to drink the water in Herriman :) Hooray for Baby Fartlek! Sounds like you need to get him in swim lessons!

It was fun meeting you on Saturday! I think it's amazing that you are able to accomplish all this with 4 children. You are a wonderful example to them--and to me!
