Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Okay, I really had to think about what I did this morning. Since I can't remember I'll just say this: 5 miles on the TM in an hour (with walking breaks), ran 1 mile at 6% then 4% then 6% then 4% then 6%. All the 4% miles were under a 10mm. Felt like a dream to run at the 4% - really felt flat honestly.

Got home and did 60/60/60 planks and 20 push-ups. At the end of set 4 (I was going to do 5 to do 100 push-ups) I heard my baby playing with/flushing the toilet upstairs. He'd flodded the thing with TP. stinker! So, I shut off the water to the toilet, cleaned up the water on the floor, unclogged the toilet and turned the water back on. Came back down to finish my sets and within minutes I noticed water dripping on the floor...from the ceiling...nice. A big bubble had formed under the paint. I figured it was from overflow water, pop  the bubble and all will be well. HA!

I'll have to post pictures of the mess that ensued, but suffice it to say that the leak of water from the toilet went MUCH further than expected. I now have one 8 foot hole along a drywall seam and another 6 foot hole along another seam, the baseboards removed in the bathroom and fans drying out the space between the floor and the ceiling. SO.MUCH.FUN.

I am drenched in drywall and mess and water, my house is a disaster, hubby is home from work for the day and I've got someone coming over in a few hours to give me an estimate on repairing my ceiling in the family room/kitchen. What a wonderful start to the week :)

Oh, and I never finished that last set of planks and push-ups. Just think, you never know what kind of a mess the gym and daycare save you from until you can't go there anymore. I just think if that little stinker wouldn't bite I could've slept in, gone to masters swim, not have a hole in my ceiling and water damage to deal with.... Only good news is, I just keep laughing at it all and am beside myself about the craziness of it all! At least it was clean toilet water, we're now drying out and I've got great neighbors and hubby that came to my rescue when it got so big I was afraid it was more than the flood issue and shut off the water to the house. Also, I now get to learn how to do drywall!! yay....

Try not to swear... OH, I would!!!! That little stinker. Sometimes we have to pay to workout, this workout was dang expensive!

I completely admire that you are able to stay positive through all of the chaos. Everything will get fix and dang it you better finish those planks and pushups. :) Priorities here!!

5 miles, that is awesome! I think I'd have to change the title of my blog because overflowing toilets and a flooded house is not boring. It would be driving me crazy.

Good morning MONDAY!!!! Good thing they come cute otherwise you would send the stinker back :) Nice miles!!!

That is the kind of stuff you have to laugh about to keep from crying. Over Christmas when we had grandkids visiting, one of them threw a toy in the toilet and plugged it up. My husband had to take the toilet off to get the toy out.

Devine, I like that you do not get mad, fix it, move on, keep positive, good work. Just another crazy day in the life of Devine.

O my gosh! Your life is definitely not boring! Glad you could laugh about it! The only no no thing Baby Jett did today was crawl inside my suitcase and played with my toiletries! :).

Babies and toddlers are so fun...! :). Best of luck putting the ceiling and floor and wall back together!

Becca, well, we found someone to repair it for only $100. Craig could do it, but has little to no time. Lots of silver linings with this!

Rachelle, well, we can either laugh or cry - I did both :) thankfully I didn't have the stress come out until later at night!

Chad, yes - definitely NOT bored this week!

Toby, no kidding! The thing is I just didn't even think about being mad at him. I guess that is a pure mommy move, huh?

Nancy, oh I'm sure you've learned to laugh through SO much!! This is just a little drop in the bucket compared to what you had to handle, I'm sure.

Brent, just another day in the life, you're right! :)

Smooth, your definition of fun and mine may differ a little right now :) oh, okay, they are fun, I don't know what I'll do when they're all gone and the house stays in one piece and clean for more than one hour! :)

... sorry about the mess RAD -- the only "positive" thing about this is that you can get back at him later in life by constantly repeating the story to family, friends, and ultimately girlfriends ;-)

From catherine on Wed, Feb 08, 2012 at 00:39:00 from 98.202.112.38

What a crazy story. I agree - that one will be fun to embarrass him with later. I'm glad you found someone to fix it for cheap-ish!

That's a good one, congratulations for taking it like a pro. Hopefully the rest of your week will improve a little bit!
