Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

MileS - yes, two :) nice!

Spin class - early morning, with a heavy gut from Flemmings last night (hubby's work took us out!!), but it was oh SO good!!

Out to the elliptical to warm up the feet and calves for running - 30 minutes L12

TM time! 6% - will I ever get used to it? run 7 min (5@ 5.5mph, 2@ 6.0), walk 3 - repeat 3X. adding up the times, it puts me right at 2 miles - awesome. I really needed those 3 minute breaks. I don't know if I will ever get up to my full 30 minutes without pain to be able to start dropping the incline.

Then, I got to go back to the gym - and get paid! Yes. I got paid to go to the gym, awesome! One of my neighbors who has a foster child through the company I work for, asked me to take her daughter to the gym and help her exercise for an hour a few times a week. Really? getting paid to go to the gym? please...no...don't twist my arm! :) I walked on the track and had her do intervals (walk one lap, run a lap and then until she caught up with me) for 20 minutes. Then we did planks 30/30/30 sec with 20 push-ups 3X. She said she felt like jello afterward, so I think I did a good job :) If anyone has any suggestions of things for her to do (cardio max is about 20 minutes right now and hasn't done resistance stuff before) I'd love to have some suggestions. So I don't kill her :)

Yay for two miles and double yay for getting paid to hangout at the gym. I am jealous! Although like you I would likely go all Jillian Michaels on the poor thing. How old is she?

Yipee for the TWO miles!!!

How lucky to get paid hanging out at the gym! :)

My hubby can't do too much cardio stuff because of his heart condition. With the home gym, he's able to exercise almost everyday. He started with 20 min each on the recumbent bike and the elliptical at low to med. resistance then 20 min jog/walk on the treadmill. He does that 4 times a week. He goes skiing on Mon. Once a week he jogs/walks outside. Last Sat. he was able to run half mile without stopping. It doesn't sound much to seasoned runners; but for someone with heart problem, it is progress! :)

Oh, I forgot after mentioning about hubby's workout...that I meant to suggest. May be you can have her do the same with the machines, 15-20 min. on each one. I bet Kelli will have tons of ideas. She's PE teacher and you two are such gym rats! :) :) :)

Woohoo for 2 miles! :) Have her walk (or run) the stairs. Great workout!

From Kelli on Tue, Jan 31, 2012 at 18:05:44 from 71.219.85.126

I think the track is IDEAL for her right now! Run a lap, walk a lap, or something like that! A lap is not too far, she can totally do it. ;o) Inclines on the treadmill would be fun, too.

As for working out, I would pick a bunch of the stuff that requires no weights and maybe throw in the BOSU ball or something. Make it fun so she will love it like we do.

BTW, I passed you as you were leaving this morning and I was headed there. You were YAWNING.

Rachelle, I think I did okay not killing her :) but, we'll see how well she is doing tomorrow. She is 18...I think.

Smooth, I was thinking something similar on the machines - 2 min on/2 min off. I guess we'll see how quickly her strength grows.

Scott, oooohh, the stairs. Now we're talking!

Kelli, I thought the same thing about the track and the incline. If I need to workout too, she can do hill walking :) I didn't want to overwhelm her in the weight room either, bosu ball stuff would be fun though - maybe try some of that next time. Oh, and me yawning doesn't surprise me, I was/am TIRED!

Yay for 2! This post made me laugh :)

I think Joel is secretly laughing to himself knowing that you are trying to run on a 6% inline. teee heee heee.

We all know it is for the good of you. I don't think I can run on a 6% incline!

I am happy that you got out with the husband for a yummy dinner on Monday. Well deserved.

Don't look to Biggest Loser for any ideas. This season is total crap. Did you watch it last night? Ugh. Conda and Kim-- where did they dig those two up? How did they make it through a "likeability" screening?

From RAD on Wed, Feb 01, 2012 at 14:14:03 from 98.202.23.178

Lily, I'm always good for a laugh :)

Becca, you might be right! Maybe I should ask him if he just likes to torture me!!

Kam, I have laundry to fold while I watch today, I always record it so I can fast forward through all the beeping the last hour! Sounds like I may have to ff through a bunch of WHINING this episode!

From Toby on Wed, Feb 01, 2012 at 15:03:14 from 199.101.229.254

How about wall sits, lunges, squats (no weights), step ups on the bench, high knees, yoga ball stuff. How fun! You want to be my personal trainer!!!
