Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Well, I did it...if I can run 22 on no sleep and pizza and cookies with no taper I have confidence in completing 26.2 in three weeks with good eating and taper...I think :) The only issue I had was at 21 miles my IT was SOOOOO bad, but I was able to stop and stretch then 'gimp' in the last 1 mile. I NEED to stretch like CRAZY the next three weeks to loosen that baby up!! I know it probably had a lot to do with still having some leftovers from last week, but I'm so afraid it will kill me - stretching can't HURT, can it?

I need to give kudos to Power Kelli!!! She put up with my stoping to stretch and whinning (I hope most of it stayed in my head...) AND did 7 more miles than she had planned...is she the best running partner ever or what?!?

Nuts and bolts: AP - 9:04; 1st ten out and back: 9:21, 9:12, 8:55, 9:22, 9:47 (hills!!), 8:50, 8:54, 8:58, 8:55, 8:45; stoped for water, gu and gatorade - next 9 out and back: 9:27, 8:50, 9:07, 8:48, 9:12, 8:57, 9:10, 9:03, 8:52 (one small stop at about 15 for a pre-emptive stretch and some 'magic' beans...must've been the caffeine, but I swear those 2 jelly beans put a spring in my step!!) - last 2.8, okay I'm saying 3: 9:05, 9:04, 9:01  (pretty good for how I felt...consistant pace anyway even for the horrible pain I felt!)

When I got home I did an ice bath to compare with last week when I did nothing and between the Aleve (thanks again Kelli!!) and ice bath I'm actually feeling pretty darn good - soreness wise. I also walked about 1/2 - 3/4 miles afterward and I think that helped as well! Still trying to figure out this "how to not get sore" thing.

I feel good about the run and hope that it helps me mentally prepare for Ogden and that my body is able to 'take it all in' by then as well. Now, I'm off to refill those 2800 calories I burned off this morning :)

Good job!! You will be great at Ogden. Yes, Kelli is an awesome pacer/running friend, she got Marion and I through Painters and we were ALOT slower than her pace. She makes it fun and is very encouraging, that was great you could have her along this morning. See you in Ogden, slap my butt as you run by, I am doing the early start, so look for me!!

Okay girl. Take care of that band, I know how bad they can get. RICE (Rest Ice Compression Elevation). When mine acts up I spin to X-train, and swimming seems to help.

You got through the 22 today? For sure you are ready for Ogden. Believe in the taper. I hate tapers because I feel like I am loosing fitness level. You aren't though, enjoy the next few weeks.

Thanks and I will take care of it...right now it feels fine. Thats what irritates me the most! I'm going to try to do 50 next week (8/day Fri off and 16 Sat) then 40 then 20. I'm excited about it, a lot of nervous energy to run out :)

Devine Miss M - nice long run. Hey, do you stretch before you run? Seems to help me if I stretch for 10 or 15 minutes.

No, I don't stretch before...thats a good idea though. Maybe even stop after 1 mi warm-up and take a few min. I'm always looking for good suggestions to help the stinky ITB!!

I heard no whining from you at all, only mine! You are an awesome runner and YOU got me through 22 miles!!!!!

You forgot to include the porta potty breaks for you bladder challenged running partner! Those slowed us down a hair, too, but, man we were pretty dang consistent! I love that you can show me the splits!
