Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

I have been beaten! Today Mike literally beat me down, there was a point where my whole body was shaking so bad that I knew I was going to die if Mike didn't count faster. After 45 minutes of complete punnishment that for some reason I pay for and keep coming back for each week I walked on the treadmill. I was thinking about running some intervals, but after I could barely walk TO the treadmill I decided to simply do incline walking. I walked for about 3 miles at 15% incline, I honestly don't remember what the exact mileage was, but I did get 1400 gain of vertical feet! WHOO HOO! Now if only I would've had some great scenery to go along with that gain, oh well, I did have some great company.

Kelli- I missed you this morning, I'm assuming you knew it would be a lovely day so you're running outside. Sorry, all the muddy buddies are gone so I can't make a personal delivery this week for an after run snack, but I think you'll probably be better without it. :)

I wanted to say how grateful I am for my wonderful, beautiful, healthy happy miracles that I call my 3 children. I met a lady at the gym today who lost her 4 mo old baby to SIDS just 3 weeks ago. I expressed my sympathy to her and I was so impressed with how great she was doing, her faith is amazing and she is very optimistic. I'm sure she has more than a few moments, but if it was me I think you'd have to commit me! Either that or put me on so many drugs so that all emotion was gone and turn me into a zombie just to get through the day. Its one of those small things in the day that makes you want to get down on your knees and thank the Lord for your trials and blessings! I love my 3 children, they may drive me crazy most of the day, but I love every minute of it - or at least I'm now trying to!

Any plans for a Sat run? I'd love to get a long one (10-14) in and early in the morning. Let me know if I can tag along with anyone's plans. I think its supposed to be a nice day!

I sent you an e-mail on the run for Saturday.

NOPE, not running outside. Thought about it for a sec, but I just took the day off. Hopefully it will help me to push an 8:30 pace tomorrow with you!

That is very sad about the lady at the gym. I wonder if I know her?? So very sad, it breaks my heart and sure does make me grateful for my 5 turkeys!

Rachel, there is a run planned for tomorrow morning. It starts in Riverton and I have attached the info to this email.

For anyone interested, a group of people are going to get together Saturday morning to run the proposed course for the Riverton 1/2 Marathon. We couldn't decide whether 6:00 or 7:00 was better, so we split the difference and will meet at 6:30 AM. The starting line and the finish line are at two separate locations. So we thought that it would be best to meet at the finish line and then have just a couple of people drive everyone over to the starting line. Alternatively, the distance to the starting line from the finish line is less than a mile. So, if you want to park at the starting line, then just add the 3/4 of a mile or so back to your car at the end of the run, that would work too.

So, to park at the finish line, meet at the 123rd South Jordan River Trailhead. Let's say to park in the west parking lot that you access off of 1300 West and 12400 South. The starting line for the race is on the corner of 12800 South and 1300 West, if you'd rather park there.

The map of the route is attached. Lisa wants everyone to wear their Garmins so she can be sure of distance, so come equipped!

Here's driving directions to get to the finish line location:

Take the 123rd South Exit off I-15 and go west to 1300 West. Turn right. On 12400 South, turn right again and follow that road down the hill into the Jordan River Parkway parking lot.

To get to the starting line:

Take the 123rd South Exit off I-15 and go west to 1300 West, Turn left. The park is behind the Holiday Oil station on your right. You can park on 1300 West.

Thanks for the run this morning!!! We averaged a 9 minute mile, so not bad! Hope your day goes well. Just think of the $$$.
