I should have raced yesterday! :-( The weather actually turned out good for racing but I had aleady made up my mind not to do it.

Now, for the next few weeks I guess I'm in limbo-land waiting to start my Boston training. I had no plan for today's run but I can tell you my legs felt great! I pretty much just cruised throught the run without much effort throughout. I did, for the first time, almost get hit by a car. I was making a left hand turn just as a car was making a right hand turn towards me. It was foggy and I was completly off the pavement, even off of the gravel, on the grass edge. The car cut the corner so sharp it was in the gravel. The driver must have seen me at the last minute and swerved to the left completly missing the turn. I kept running and the car just sat there for a couple of minutes before it backed up and then made the turn. I had my flashy lights on and my flashlight shining.

I'd recommend taking a couple weeks easy as recovery. Take half the time between now and when you need to start your buildup and cut your mileage back to about 50% of what you've been doing.

Then in the second half, start gradually increasing mileage again so when you begin your Boston training you're ready for it. AT least, that's what I'd do.

Wow! cars in the fog sound a little scary.

Looks like a nice run at a good pace. I would love to get back to feeling like there is a little pop in my legs. Hope that your fitness is this good or better when you get to Boston.

DL,

Thanks for the advise. I plan to take it pretty easy for couple of weeks as you suggest.

Dave,

I heard them call it "Freezing Fog" the other day on the news/weather. I had never heard that term before. :-)

Sounds like a car in the fog may have been listening to Christmas music and was giving chase to Rudolph with your flashing lights. Glad they missed you and that you stayed safe.

That darn weather and races. It's such a crap shoot. You are nicely prepped for a solid buildup to Boston. Boston Buildup 2014 - I like the sound of it.

Just run what feels fun. Like today! I keep thinking January and I will finally get real about Boston training...

Glad you made it out of that situation OK. Too many close calls -- most drivers watch pretty well, thanksfully.
