I decided to run on the treadmill for another day. I have a little tweek in my hip so I thought it would be best to stay on the treadmill and run at a fairly easy pace today. Usually I go to the gym when I run on the treadmill but stayed home for the past three...now it's getting boring!

Good call going easy when you feel a possible injury coming on.

I just read your post from yesterday and I don't think you need to worry too much about that run. I don't think you'd have any trouble doing the marathon at 8:00 pace. I think MP always seems too hard on training runs. When you throw in a taper and some of that race day magic the pace will feel pretty easy [at least for the first 20 miles]. Under 160 HR probably isn't too bad for MP [our max HR is about the same and I usually average around 163 in a marathon] but it is kind of odd how it climbed throughout the run while running the same pace. Mine usually levels out about the second or third mile and stays that way until around 20 miles. It may be that you weren't fully recovered from the past week of big mileage days and that 10 miler a couple days ago at 7:30 pace. It makes you wonder what it would have done if you kept going.

10-12 miles on the treadmill is a beatdown! Do you run it straight through or do you take breaks of any kind? What do watch on tv for this? I have a hard time going over like 4 miles on the treadmill because I get so bored.

Hey Lindsey,

I pretty much run all of my runs (treadmill and road) without breaks. On a 10 mile run on the treadmill I will step off the running mat for 10-12 seconds to take a drink after 5 miles. On road runs I wear a water belt and drink as I run. My heart rate drops really quickly if I stop so I try to avoid that.
