Here's the full report. This was a huge improvement over my 3rd week 17 mile run, on my last (Cowtown) training session. I have a 20 second per mile improvement along with a 9 bpm HR improvement with the temperature 23 degrees hotter (it was 42 degrees during the Cowtown training run). Ran 1 extra mile.

What's up with this one extra mile? Nice run Preston. Hope that you have a great weekend. I feel like a slacker when you do that:)

Very nice long run! It has been interesting watching you with the new training plan. I am anxious to hear your thoughts about it when you are "done".

Like the new picture..

The extra mile is all in the running route I take. I just don't like leaving mileage on the road.

Jody, this is my second time through the RLRF program. I feel it was great for me last time even though I bombed on my marathon (go look at my ft worth cowtown race report earlier this year). I did crush my half marathon PR in the middle of the training (look at my Austin 3m race report ). We'll see if the results are different this time around. It's good to see you back on the blog!

I'm curious to see how this plan goes for you too. I did the precursor to it, First to the Finish, back when it was published in Runners World Magazine in the mid-2000's. Back then, I decided it's emphasis on quality over quantity was too strong. The volume of fast running and the prescribed paces were too much and too fast. It'd be interesting to compare the training plans now to see what has changed.

Keep up the good work!
