Solid run dude. How's the hip feeling after that?

From I Just Run on Fri, Apr 13, 2012 at 09:48:50 from 67.79.11.242

My hip problem has gone away just as fast as it came on. All is good bodywise! I kinda felt like I was bonking at mile 18-19 but I pushed through and finished with a stronger mile at the end. I think my body just has a problem running more than 18 miles :-( I'm hoping, with some fueling and a little tapering I can pull off about 30 seconds per mile. I've only been drinking water and a little gatorade on all of my runs lately, I'm not sure how much some GU would help throughout the run.

I'm still undecide about OKC in two weeks. I don't want to waste my time or money if I'm not ready.

From flatlander on Fri, Apr 13, 2012 at 14:03:26 from 76.31.26.153

20 on Friday? Are you doing it again tomorrow or was that your long run? With OKC only 2 weeks out I'm guessing no repeats? That is a good-looking run, especially at 66F, those are not sissy temperatures when combined with humidity.

From I Just Run on Fri, Apr 13, 2012 at 14:24:56 from 67.79.11.242

Yes...20 on Friday. I can't run this weekend. I'm still trying to decide about OKC. I'm still wondering if 55 degree/low humidity, proper fueling and fresh legs will get me to 26.2 miles under 8:00 per mile.

From flatlander on Fri, Apr 13, 2012 at 14:28:10 from 198.207.244.102

I think you can do 8:00 in your sleep, even on a slightly warm day. The only way you wouldn't is if it is a hot day and you try to go too fast for the conditions, which is what I usually do!

A great 21 miler and no commentary??

Nice run. I agree with Flat - with nice even pacing (no 7-minute miles to start out with this time) I bet you will not have a problem running under 3:30 at OKC. I guess you could wait and see how the weather looks too.

From DLTheo on Sun, Apr 15, 2012 at 08:06:06 from 76.28.161.119

The fact that you can run under 8 after bonking in mile 19 suggests that you can handle under 8 throughout the marathon. If you consume carbs throughout the run that should prevent the bonking.

I think I'm going to try another 20 miler in the morning. Last chance to decide about OKC. All the body parts are pretty good so we'll see how the aerobic works tomorrow.

From flatlander on Sun, Apr 15, 2012 at 18:20:16 from 198.207.244.102

A little close to OKC, but I would do the same thing, it's just the way we are. Good luck.

Nice run! 30 seconds slower than MP is a good place to be on your long run. You usually want to keep your MP runs between 13 and 16 miles. That seems like a perfect last long run to me. You'll be surprised what a good taper can do and like Joe said, keep it easy in the early miles this time:-)
