Today was another measuring stick to see where I think I am (if I'm close to pre-injury condition). I still think I fell short but it's a little hard to tell because of the heat. Part of my run I felt really strong but as my HR went over 155 I felt like I was fading. Also, my muscles and joints feel good but my legs (below my calves) and my feet are sore...like tendons and ligaments maybe?? Tomorrw will be an easy day in the gym to let them rest.

That's a really great run, you are definitely back in shape. It's just hard to tell because it's summer in Texas.

From I Just Run on Thu, Jun 09, 2011 at 10:53:22 from 67.79.11.242

Where did spring go? ...Or did we even have one?

From SlowJoe on Thu, Jun 09, 2011 at 10:57:28 from 132.3.53.68

I think I might remember 3 or 4 days of spring, maybe...

From JG on Thu, Jun 09, 2011 at 12:04:03 from 74.190.55.151

That is an awesome run, esp. with it being your 3rd 10+ mile run this week & over 40 for week. I think you are in better condition, the key is just to remain injury free! This run tells me with solid summer mileage & no injury, you could easily run 3:25 @ TOU!

From I Just Run on Thu, Jun 09, 2011 at 12:31:12 from 67.79.11.242

Ah..I was hoping for a 3:15 :-)

From JG on Thu, Jun 09, 2011 at 12:40:19 from 74.190.55.151

That is not unrealistic ... note I said 'easily run 3:25'! :) However, since your primary goal is to BQ, you should go out at a 3:25 pace, and hope for a negative split. If you were to struggle at the end, you still would have a cushion to come in under 3:30, which gets you the 5 minute better than BQ time that you want so you can register before it opens up to all qualifiers. The number 2 mistake in marathons is going out too fast! The number 1 mistake is not registering for them before they fill up!! :)

From I Just Run on Thu, Jun 09, 2011 at 12:43:42 from 67.79.11.242

Ha ha ... I know :-) I just thought I'd say that and see what you would say! I would love to be able to run a 3:25 ... a 3:15 can come in a couple of years. I really do need to sign up, have you?

From JG on Thu, Jun 09, 2011 at 13:20:03 from 74.190.55.151

I wish I was signing up, I opted for a more economical marathon Oct.22 in NC to try to go sub 3. I would go out there & pace you, but you should take your wife ... barring injury you have a sub 3:30 in you, without any problem!

From Dave S on Thu, Jun 09, 2011 at 21:29:16 from 4.253.100.230

Nice run! If you can keep that pace right now in the heat for 12 miles, I don't see any reason why you couldn't keep that up for a for a full marathon in cool weather after 3 more months of training. The whole key is in just being careful enough to keep the injury bug away till then. I would agree with JG that focusing on the 3:25 goal is smart though for this one and if you get through the first 10 to 13 miles and feel good go for it!

From Dan on Thu, Jun 09, 2011 at 21:34:23 from 24.209.83.20

Hey nice run, you have a good week going. I too think your conditioning is there and staying injury free is a goal for all of us.

From Steam8 on Thu, Jun 09, 2011 at 21:36:10 from 166.70.55.77

Injury free. What is that? :)
