If you're the one in black, it doesn't look like you're winning :)

For your frustrations, I recommend finding a cardio machine that doesn't aggravate the hip and knocking out a 2-3 hour session while listening to the Word. Burn the stress off and feed the soul.

Great advice. Today was about 80 minutes of just that then 15 minutes on the TM to see how the hip felt. I run the Elliptical at about 210-230 steps per minute and still it take almost 9 minutes to go a mile.

Don't worry about the actual "mileage" just get the heart rate up and put the time in as long as it doesn't hurt. I qualified on very little real running mileage after recovering from a fractured tibia. I spent a lot of hours on the machines at the YMCA and it paid off.

I have so much trouble keeping my HR up to 150 or above in any exercise besides running. The elliptical and biking use such different muscles, those muscles wear out and I can't keep the HR up...Booo Hooo! I guess I'm just a wimp!

225 Steps per minute (Elliptical) = 125 BPM Avg.

19 MPH Biking 30 Miles (Road Bike) = 135 BPM Avg.

If I could ride 19 mph at any HR I would be thrilled ... maybe you should train for the Tour de France! :)

After a couple hours your HR should go up as you get tired. The miles you put in after you want to quit are the ones that do the most good :)

I'm anxious to get back to biking a little more so I can get to 30+ miles @ 20+ MPH....Getting close :-)

I don't spend near as much time with my roping as I used to. That's all I lived and breathed for years... But it's kinda like learning how to play golf early in life, once you've learned how to play, you always have the basic skills. You may loose some of the finesse but you never loose the basics. I'm not at the top of my game right now, but in the catagory I compete in, there's room for some mistakes.
