Decided to mix it up a little this morning and run a couple of fast half miles with some slow warm-up and recovery in between.

Make sure you get some rest before that 1/2 marathon. You've already done a fair amount of VO2max work recently, which can make you feel invincible. It can also set you up for injury. Be careful.

I just dicovered the graph feature here on FRB. When looking at your weekly mileage on the graph, it looks like you have a very disproportionate amount of fast vs. slow running. It's probably because of the "Run Less Run Faster" training program and its philosophy. One of these training cycles, you might want to do more easy running and see what it gives you.

I think my plan for the rest of the week will be rest tuesday, bike 25 easy on wednesday, rest thursday and run 3-4 on friday with a couple of miles at 1/2 marathon pace. The biking is a commitment I made with a friend but it won't tax me at all. If you have any suggestions, let me know. I'm just kinda making this up as I go along :-)

I found the graph feature before but really didn't know how to use or interpret it. I do know that most of my "easy" days when training in the RLRF program were biking so it doesn't show up on the chart. I do believe I need to run more long slow miles as I feel just as draind when I run a 10+ run slow or fast. I think I just need more time on my feet, more time breathing and more time with my HR pumping at a reasonable speed.

Sounds great!

If it makes you feel better, I haven't been following any kind of training plan this year either... just been "making this up as I go along" too!

What's your goal for the 1/2?

I'm planning to start my 16 week training in a couple of weeks. I'm hoping to run below 1:35 in the half.

You could definitely throw in a run early this week with a few miles at 7:15 (1/2 marathon) pace. Like Carl said, you don't really need to do any fast-pace VO2 running before the 1/2 since you've had plenty recently and it won't benefit you by the weekend anyway.

Nice goal. I think you'll own this race!

Good to get those legs moving, nice run. And good luck on the half, should be a good one.
