After yesterday's workout all seemed good so I picked it up a little today. I went to the Gym again: 1 treadmill mile at 10:30 pace, upper body high rep weights, 1 treadmill mile at 9:30 pace, upper body high rep weights & leg extensions, 1 eliptical mile up to 150 HR, upper body high rep weights, 1 treadmill mile at 8:30 pace.....whewwww that was long winded...!

Anyway, everything seems pretty good. some soreness is still there (as I have described before) but it did not get worse after this workout. Today I go to the doctor...who will probably tell me to lay off of it longer...

Mark 2:17
On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Remember what Tim Roakes, the author of "The Lore of Running" said: Never accept as final the advice of a doctor who is a non-runner.

Anyway, let us know what the doc says.

Der Hammer,

The good news is the doctor is a runner (retired marathoner).

The bad news is the doctor cancelled on me and now can't see me until the 21st.

The good news is I live to run another day (although it's in small quantities).

The bad news is the soreness hasn't gone away.

The good news is the soreness is not worse with 4 miles today.

The bad new is I'm running out of time to decide on OKC.

The good news is I have friends who understand and care about my delima...

Thanks,

Hey Preston, sounds like you are recovering, which is great news. It's hard to be patient; that is, I try not to judge my progress by the day, but by the week because you will have days where it seems like it was sorer than the previous day. You still have over two weeks until OKC and I think you can be ready for it, at least ready to get in a 26.2-mile jaunt. In other words, ready just to run!

Looks to me you are on the downhill side of this one, just give it a few more days and be smart about how much you run.

Good to see those miles posted, I'll keep my fingers crossed we'll see ya in OKC.

Ok...Der Hammer,

I've put "The Lore of Running" on my list of running books to buy. I have really enjoyed and learned a lot from the other one you recommended. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and information.

Whoa - the Lore Of Running is a monster. I have read through it a bit and referenced it, it is not a cover-to-cover type read, for me at least.

Jack Dainiel's Running Formula should also be high on your list. His marathon training plan would bring me to my knees crying for mercy. :-)

Der Hammer,

Maybe I should have second thoughts on all these reads... I can inflict plenty of pain on myself, maybe I don't need any more chalanges :) I think I'm running with a 25 yr old mind and a 50 year old body...LOL
