Paced a friend for her very first half-marathon. In fact, this is the longest she has ever run, having just started running last March. She really wanted to finish in two hours, but was afraid of trying, so I said I would run with her. Her garmin didn't work, which was just as well. I didn't want her looking at it. She ran well for the first 10 miles, then really felt the race the last three. It was a hilly course, and the steep hill at mile 11.5 was a grind. But, she did great, finishing in 1:54.

Weather was 2* at the start. But, no wind so it really wasn't too bad.

Way to be such a great friend!

Good job pacing your friend! N8r - I was just browsing through and saw you here. I knew you were fast, but had no idea you were that fast. Those PRs over there are very impressive. Way to keep at it all these years!

Marc--Thanks. Just trying to keep swinging the bat. Main goal is to stay injury-free.

Tom--You asked where I've been. Fact is, I'm still running, but I continue to like my manual running log. There's just too many logs to keep track of--an app on my phone, online-apps, paper apps, etc. Since i'm not on my computer all the time, my manual log seems to work the best for me.

I understand, but I still like to hear what my good running friends are up to once in a while......so post up man!

1:40 pacer for the Striders HM. Finishing time was 1:39:35. Not a bad day for a race. As a pacer, I thought our first miles were a bit fast. Avg was supposed to be 7:38. Miles 3, 4, & 5 were 7:17, 7:18, 7:15. In fact, every mile through mile 8 was sub-7:38. Two problems with this--first, for those trying to hit 1:40, it can burn you out early on. I have always preached that you can't bank minutes in a race. Second--we really had to slow down the last 3 miles, running a 7:46 (ok, that one's not too bad), 7:53, and 8:27. So, I let it get away from me. Yeah, the finishing time is within 30 seconds of target time (where I like to be), but the last few miles had to be manipulated to hit it. I know better, and will be more disciplined next time.

A 12-mile training run out of Blacksmith Fork Canyon. Weather was cold and windy. Normally, no worries with the wind out of BSFC, but on this day, it was a headwind the entire run. Wanted to run about a 7:40, but the cold and wind wore me out and I could only manage a 7:58 pace overall. After the run, we all gathered at a friend's house (where the run ended) for eggs, bacon, pancakes, etc. Not a bad way to end a run. I am tired of the cold and wind. It is time for some warmer, sunnier weather.

Pacer (with Andy Browning) for 2:43 group at the Striders 30K. An absolutely beautiful day for a run, and some terrific people to run with. We hit each mile within about 3 seconds of target split time.

From Tom Slick on Tue, Aug 13, 2019 at 15:28:36 from 174.148.1.248

Yo Pro, It sure was good to see ya at the Des News 10k, I only got to the finish line a few seconds before you!!! I guess I was just lucky since my beard is much heavier and less wind resistant than yours!
