First time I've run this race. Ran my best AG 10K, averaging 6:35/mile. Still only good enough for 4th place (winner averaged 5:35/mile). Found out the winner of our AG was the USATF Master's Runner of the Year last year.  Don't know if I'll run it again next year, though, as I've got the Timp HM in 4 days, and I'm not sure about running races that close together.

Wasn't sure I was really going to run until I got up race morning, as I have been doing everything I can the last couple of weeks to get my calf to heal.  Held back at start as right calf had not fully healed, and ran as 'flat-footed' as possible. Picked up the pace in the second half. Beautiful day for a run. Although I'm not too unhappy with my time considering my calf issue, I wasn't happy that it was slower than last year.

LV Ragnar (Runner 2). Cold and very windy--in fact, it was snowing at the start. This was my 3rd LV Ragnar, 10th overall. First leg (9:55am) was 4.8 miles, and I averaged a 6:19 (downhill, of course). Last .8 was 6:08. Wore my Asics Gel racing flats. Second leg (5:55pm) was 4.7, uphill (570ft elevation gain), dead into a strong headwind. Not as fast as leg one, for sure, but I passed 41 runners (a number were going really slow the last mile). By the time I ran my third leg (4:25am), the wind had finally died down. It was a 7-mile leg, nothing to really write home about, but my calves were a bit sore from constant use of my racing flats. My 4th leg (7:32am and yes, I ran 4 legs as we had a runner that had to get home for her son's soccer game) wasn't long--just 3 miles--but my calves were burning. Took all I had to squeak out a 7:00 final mile.

Had a great time. It's the same team I always run with, so we know each other pretty well. As far as my calf muscles go, I'm not unhappy. Up until about six months ago, I've worn Brooks Beasts for about seven years. I switched to the Adrenaline GTS, with a lower heel drop, and now race in minimalist shoes (including Altras on shorter races). They seem to be working great, and I'm getting more adjusted to them all the time.

Hey there N8r!!! Welcome to the blog! :)

Your blog title ought to say something like "wicked fast" or "speed demon" or "3:15 here I come"!!! :) :) :)

HELLO!!!! :) :) :)

I only know one Pron8r!!!! It's got to be you!!! :) :) :)

From Pron8r on Fri, Nov 16, 2012 at 09:02:38 from 67.177.34.108

Yes, it is I. I did not know the two of you were on here! I'm still trying to figure this thing out--like how to put two runs on one day, etc. Any suggestions/advice etc on how this works, let me know. I may have picked the wrong template, but again, I'm still working it out.

And--thanks for the welcome! Glad to know you're on here. I see Smooth from time to time, but I haven't seen you, Teena, in quite a while. Probably because you've gone home and cleaned up by the time I cross the finish line!

From Teena Marie on Fri, Nov 16, 2012 at 15:53:50 from 63.230.16.129

Hmmmm ... your template looks different than mine. For me, when I run 2-a-days I just simply edit my total miles for the day. (I.e., I just go back into the workout calendar and switch the miles for the total of the two runs.)

I actually looked for you at Snow Canyon. It seems that is the only place I run into you!!! But, unfortunately, I did not see you. :(

From Smooth on Sat, Nov 17, 2012 at 07:01:56 from 67.2.119.62

Sounds like you had a lot of fun and got huge amount of roadkills running FOUR legs!!! :)

What Teena said as far as running more than once a day, go back to your workout calendar and hit edit then pluck in the numbers to the appropriate mileage category and it will give you a total distance.

May I also suggest that you use the "shoe manager" feature/button. It is found on the left side of your workout calendar page. It allows you to put in infinite amount and names of the

shoes/trainers you use...you can even put barefoot if that is your choice! :). Have fun playing with your blog.

From Pron8r on Sat, Nov 17, 2012 at 07:55:04 from 67.177.34.108

Teena--Yeah, I may not be using the correct template. Which one are you using? And--as I live in Providence now (Logan), and I don't need the Runner Series for SGM, I did not drive down to Snow Canyon. I may have to go next year, though, as I really like that race.

Smooth--That makes sense. Actually, kind of obvious now that you mention it. Tried it and it worked. And, i have started using the manager feature.

So--one last (?) question. I notice that under the category 'Total Distance' it does not record my 'Racer Miles'. Any particular reason for that? Seems a bit odd to me.

From Smooth on Mon, Nov 19, 2012 at 10:30:14 from 67.2.119.62

I don't know why your "racer miles" did not get tallied up in the total distance! I've never had miles in the "trainer and racer" categories on my template (I let the shoe manager keep track of those miles). All I know is that the total distance includes all miles even those in cross training (e.g. Swim, bike) that is imputed in the template. May be it is a default to make sure that the "shoe mileage" don't get "double dip" in the total distance! :)

AM - Turned out to be a nice day for a run--no wind, slightly overcast, about 41*. Only thing I didn't care for was the 300' climb from mile 2 to mile 4. It's not a lot, but it's steady, and you can feel it. Well, at least I can feel it. It was the slowest 10K for me this year, and I attribute that to either (a) It was just a week after racing 4 legs at Ragnar LV, (b) It was uphill for the middle miles, or (c) I'm getting older. Not really sure which I want it to be. Kinda hope it's (a), but I'm afraid it's (c). Thank heavens for age groups

So Bro-Pro, what is your next goal race?

From Pron8r on Wed, Nov 21, 2012 at 12:24:10 from 67.177.34.108

BroTom--I've got a few races coming up, but the next 'goal' race will probably be the Ogden Half. I'm running the Salt Lake Half, but will be a pacer. I've got a HM in January, but it's a low-key affair and more of a 'fun run' type of thing. You're doing Salt Lake, aren't you?

A little cold this morning, but a beautiful day for a run. Sunny and no wind, and temps to keep you cool during the race. This was a charity race put on to raise funds for Hurricane Sandy victims, and the emphasis on the race was having fun. There were no AG awards, which was ok with me. Besides, I really don't like 5K's. I never train for them, and they hurt. At least, they hurt me if I try and run them really fast. But, they're good for you (so I keep telling myself). They had drawings at the end, but I managed to keep my streak alive of never winning anything at a race drawing. Bottom line--I had fun, and it was a great way to start Thanksgiving day. Now I can carbo-load the rest of the day.

Another nice run. Sounds like it was foggy in all of northern Utah today.

From Pron8r on Fri, Dec 07, 2012 at 07:50:35 from 67.177.34.108

DaleG--It was actually pretty cool (literally and figuratively) to run in the fog. Once nice thing is that I couldn't see how far I had to go.

Officially, 3. However, 4-5 more should have, but they missed a turn and didn't realize it until I was by them.

Wasn't really too bad, Dale. Not much wind, so once you got going, it 'warmed' up a little.

I hear ya on the no energy/motivation.

From Pron8r on Sat, Dec 15, 2012 at 12:35:37 from 67.177.34.108

Tom--I have a HM in January, but it's more of a training run to kick off the new season. Next goal race is probably the Ogden Half.

Sounds like a beautiful run. Cold, clear sky. I love night runs, can't wait till I can do them again.

From Pron8r on Sat, Dec 22, 2012 at 11:52:17 from 67.177.34.108

Mack, I'm not all that wild about night runs, especially in the winter. But, sometimes you do what you gotta do. BTW--good luck with the P90 workouts.

Way to get out and getter done! Hey Bro Pro, whats next on your running schedule?

From Pron8r on Sat, Dec 22, 2012 at 15:19:05 from 67.177.34.108

BroTom--I've got a HM on Jan 5. But, it's not a 'goal' time race, just one to get the year started and have some fun. In fact, I may just pace a couple of people to a 1:40. What do you have coming up?

Burr...that was a cold start, probably was just as cold at the end! Hey its Jan 5 now, what have you been up to and what are your running plans for 2013???

From Pron8r on Sat, Jan 05, 2013 at 17:23:53 from 67.177.34.108

Dale & BroTom--I've been a bit lazy this week with my log entries. I've been running, and I'll take some time in the next day to enter them. I ran a Half-Marathon this morning, and paced a friend (it was her first HM) to help her finish in two hours or better. On a very hilly course, with a starting temp of around 0*, we finished in 1:54. She was pretty excited, but was swearing at me during the last few miles--especially with the steep hill at about 12.5 miles. No worries, though. If they're swearing at me, I know I'm doing my job.
