Endure and persist; this pain will turn to your good. - Ovid

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. - Romans 5:1-5

Ran the Colorado Run 4-miler...my first race since trials. I have not done any workouts since then, unless you count the 3 strides I did on Thursday...so wasn't expecting big things.

Beautiful morning, about 55 degrees, and calm. Race was at the Budweiser plant, on a 4-mile loop on the county roads. Pretty flat, with some inclines and declines. In general, the first 2 miles were faster than the last 2 miles.

Went out in 4th place, then past one guy at about half mile, then stayed in 3rd for the rest of the race. Leaders were out in 5:07, and I wanted no part of that. My first mile was 5:19, which was faster than I expected. Then 5:22 for the second mile.

Came down to reality in mile 3, with a 5:39, and then the last mile was pretty sad and painful, with a 5:52. But fortunately I had a big enough lead over 4th place, and held my spot.

22:14 overall, which I was actually pretty happy with, but it just would have been easier on me if I had run 5:30s for the first 2 miles instead of 5:20s.

Good to see you are recovered, Paul.
