My new job actually has the 24th as a holiday so I decided to run the race even though I hadn't trained well and I'm coming off a stupid summer cold that really hit me hard.

I drove Austin (Darcies boy friend) and his brother Cody to the Rice Eccles stadium to catch the buses.  I hadn't had a good run the last week since starting to run again after the cold but I was hoping for some race day magic that didn't occurr.

This is an overall down hill race which drops about 1,500 feet.

Miles 1-3 (6:32, 6:40, 6:45) My body was letting me run but I didn't feel good.

Miles 4-6  (6:55, 6:55, 6:50) My body had no pep no energy but I was hoping instead of 6:30's I could keep going near 7:00's.

Miles 7-9  (7:05, 7:33, 7:10)  Starting to feel worse and worse.  The cold is catching up.

Miles 10-13  (7:45, 7:45, 7:40, 8:40)  Feeling aweful.  My body wanted to lay down and go to sleep and die.  Don't know what happened on the last mile that I got a 8:40, must have been getting luppy.  When I finished I was dissy and had a hard time walking in a straight line.  I got a drink and went and sat down which felt much better after awhile.

I did manage to get 2nd in my 50-54 AD out of 29.  Last year I ran a half marathon 9 minutes faster.  I'm blaming the slower race in small part due to fitness and in large part due to the cold that I must not quite have shaken yet.

Austin got a 1:15:29 which was darn fast!!  Cody got a 1:32
