Ogden half Marathon, sunny, low wind, Temp. 55-75  (YAHOO!! I did good!!)

This was my first race of the year and I was determined to see what kind of shape I was in and not take it easy.  I think I ran a pretty good race because the last couple of miles were difficult.  I haven't pushed it hard like that for a long time and I'd fogotten how hard it is at the end of the race.

Mile 1 - 6:09 (level),

Mile 2 - 6:36 (uphill, mabey a bit too fast),

Mile 3 - 6:26 (level, reduced effort a bit from previous up hill mile),

Mile 4 - 6:14 (slight down hill),

Mile 5 - 6:02 (heading down the canyon),

Mile 6-8 - 6:19's Avg. (didn't see the mile signs, Need a GPS watch)

Mile 9 - 5:59 (4 miles to go and my legs were still ok so I picked up the pace)

Mile 10 - 5:48 (getting near the end of the canyon, feeling a little strained)

Mile 11 - 6:15 (wondering if I can hold the pace, out of the canyon, I passed someone and I don't want to let them pass me back up)

Mile 12 - 6:31 (course leveling out, very tired, managed to pass another runner)

Mile 13 - 6:22 (It felt like it took 10 minutes to do this mile, I was not used to the pain, I was suprised to get the time I did),

Final .1 - 0:46

Total time 1:22:11 -  Mile Avg. 6:16  -  9th overall,  -  1st in Age Div.

Great job. I saw you at the awards ceremony and thought that you looked familiar. It looks like we had very similar races except your's was quite a bit faster.

Great race Terry! I knew you were going to do well but you exceeded my expectations! I think OldBean has got it going this year. Looks like this was pretty close to a PR for you in the half. I think if things continue to go well for you you should be looking at sub 1:20 for Provo River and/or Hobble Creek.

Congratulations on a great race Terry! Very impressive. Good job on hanging tough at the end.
