I live in Kauai, Hawaii with my wife and 3 kids. I ran x-country and track in high school. I had too much fun in college and never tried out for the teams. I graduated from BYU Provo.

Hey had a great day on the island, we were all up by 5am so we headed to the north shore to see the big waves, pretty impressive, not real consistent so not many surfers... maybe thats just Kauai, I am used to Maui where the Island stops when the surf is big!
Beautiful day, we are thinking of heading the other way tomorrow! Thanks for the info and help!

If you're still here you can borrow any of our surfboards, boogie boards, or other beach stuff we have.

Hey thanks, we are having a blast, I haven't even had time to surf with 4 boys 10-3 it keeps us hopping, they have loved the Brenneke body boarding spot! Is there a spot over here in Poipu that has good comsistent surf waves, how is it off the Poipu beach to the right if you are looking out? Where do you live?

We live in Lihue right by Costco. That surf spot to the right of Poipu is Waiohai. It is a good spot. You will notice that waves do go all the way up to a reef near the beach so just don't ride a wave all the way to the reef. If you do get pushed up next to the reef don't stand up because there are sea urchins everywhere....just paddle parallel to shore and then back out to the waves. Besides Waiohai the surfing is usually really consistent and probably better waves 1 mile farther down right off of the Beach House restaurant. Surfing there is a little more tricky because the surfing is on top of a reef and the water is shallow. I have only surfed there once.
