| | Back from a stretch of the winter blahs last week. I didn't intend to take that much time off, but just kind of got in a rut and all of a sudden was falling out of shape. Snow's on the ground and it's cold now, so I went to the Y. I just did 3 miles at 8:30 pace, easing back into it (though I didn't feel like I could have run a lot faster). I could feel the layoff, sluggish and my heart rate is definitely up. It'll take a bit to regain the fitness lost. But hopefully I can get back into a winter routine and start to set some goals for next year, it felt really good to run again. 25:45 supernova red -- 103

| | Again at the Y -- it is freeeezing outside, especially for the winter namby-pambies up here. In Utah I could take running outside when it's 30, but my blood has warmed here (it is dark for more of the morning though, so I still hold that excuse). It's cold and clear with some white on the ground, reminds me of Cache Valley right now. But anyway, I went back to the treadmill. Felt much better than yesterday, my legs, heart and lungs needed to be reminded what running is. Still nothing fast, started at 8:30 and worked down to 7:53 miles, and not too long. A success compared to yesterday (or all of last week). 29:00. supernova red -- 106.5

| | Nasty few days here, the snow hit Wednesday night, that and icy streets shut me down and I couldn't get to the Y either (they closed). Plus work is extra busy with this going on (because some people can't get in), and that adds to the day. Today it's a little better, but I can't get my car out because I live on a 45-degree ice hockey rink. Mail doesn't even get delivered on my street. And it just started snowing again. I have been walking 4 miles a day to and from work and the store, so I guess my legs have been exercised some. Today's treadmill run was great though, 2 miles at 8 min. pace and 3 at 7:30. The faster miles were more enjoyable, really comfortable and effortless. Hopefully we don't get dumped on again tonight, and the rain can come wash this away. I'm such a winter pansy now. 38:30.
