Personal:

Started running in November 2007 to get fit. Now I'm back almost to square one after back surgery. I did it once and I'll do it again.

"In truth, runners don't race other runners. They race against themselves: to conquer their wills, to transcend their weaknesses, to beat back their nightmares. And while a runner can't actually beat himself, he can beat his time. Even years into running, he can get better."  Running for His Life by Michael Hall.

630AM: Easy run on a pleasantly cool morning, high 60's. Still have very poor air quality, orange alert, from the fires and dust blowing around. More hip and hamstring/glute pain. Not an intense pain but more of a radiating pain. I've gone through this before and it got better after a few weeks of doing some strengthening exercises. Hoping for the same this time around.

930PM: Another easy run. Looking into going gluten free. It was my wifes idea but I thought what the heck, maybe it will help me with my GI issues?

I hope your air quality clears up soon...it is bad here too!

Going GF is a real challenge as we have discovered with our daughter's issues. I would get some tests done first. There are lots of good GF products and options out there, but it is more difficult than one would think. I also don't think that gluten is the evil that many are making it out to be currently.

Yeah, I'm doing it mostly to support my wife who has fibramyalgia (sp?) and maybe provide the side benefit of helping me with my GI issues. My sister has been gluten free for a while and now she has my wife convinced that it can help her. What little research I've done does suggest that it will be a challenge like you said. We'll see.

Neil, It is worth giving it a try, I know it will help the GI issue. My wife is GF - soy free - dairy free, and I am GF and have never felt better. We have been for 3 mo now, yes it is alot of work but well worth it. I still have your # if you want to talk more.

@Marlin: Glad it's been a good experience for you. I'm sort of easing into it and trying to get a plan together. I'll let you know how it goes.
