Qualify for Boston Marathon. Personal: Started running in November 2007 to get fit. Now I'm back almost to square one after back surgery. I did it once and I'll do it again.
"In truth, runners don't race other runners. They race against themselves: to conquer their wills, to transcend their weaknesses, to beat back their nightmares. And while a runner can't actually beat himself, he can beat his time. Even years into running, he can get better." Running for His Life by Michael Hall.

| | Noon: GB run from Muni Park. December run in short w/ temps in the 50's. 5 x 150-200m strides. Piriformis pain was bad today. Not sure why it has flared back up since I'm running a LOT less and a LOT slower these days. |

| | Noon: GB run from AM Park to Willow Lane. Just taking things slow and trying to get consistent again. Need to run every day, even if its only a couple miles, until I work back into the 8-10 mi/day habit again. |

| | Up early for some TM miles at the club. Committed to getting all my workouts done before work. Too many excuses/activities going on in the evening these days and work is getting a bit more hectic to allow for midday runs. |

| | Easy run on GB from AM Park to Willow Lane. Passed a homeless man sitting under a bridge playing a huge conch shell. The second oddest thing I've seen this week. |

| | Easy run on the GB from Muni Park to ParkCenter Bridge. Cool and sunny. Got derailed the past few days by a nasty head cold. I'm hoping everything is behind me now so I can begin my New Year's ritual of burning off my October-December weight gain. |
