Personal:

Started running in November 2007 to get fit. Now I'm back almost to square one after back surgery. I did it once and I'll do it again.

"In truth, runners don't race other runners. They race against themselves: to conquer their wills, to transcend their weaknesses, to beat back their nightmares. And while a runner can't actually beat himself, he can beat his time. Even years into running, he can get better."  Running for His Life by Michael Hall.

615AM: Barely made it out of bed. I'm working on very little sleep these days. HR never got above 130. Left hamstring is very tight. It's been cranky for awhile now so I decided to forego the Fit 4 Life Half that I had planned for Saturday. Better to build up my base mileage and get healthy.

Sorry you won't be running as I will be in town on Friday night and Saturday and I am running the race. My wife is doing the Goldilock's century ride in Meridian/Caldwell area so I thought I would try this race again (last did in back in 2005). Hope to challenge for the win as a birthday present to myself. Maybe we can find a way to hook up briefly, I will give you a call.

Dang, I didn't know you were running it. I may have to go down there and watch if I'm not fishing/floating the S. Fork Boise this weekend. Gimme a ring for sure. Based on results of past years you should definitely challenge for the win. Good luck to you and the Mrs.
