Married with 2 lively boys. I love running and I love getting faster. Just trying to figure out how to balance life between being a mother, wife, part time nurse, and runner. :)

When I was in 6th grade I filled out a Getting to Know You sheet. Under nicknames I wrote, "My brothers call me Boo Legs, I think its because I run fast." (It really came from the movie, Strange Brew) And its been my family nickname ever since.

 5 miles before a weight lifting class at the gym. I made an interesting find today (probably not ground breaking news). I've noticed that if I run (or do any form of cardio) for at least 10 minutes before weight lifting, I burn more calories then if I did the same amount of cardio after the class. It seems like if I go into the class with my heart rate a little elevated, it stays elevated. Hmmm...food for thought.

1 mile warm up followed by on (fast)/off (slow jog)sequence. 1 min on, 1 min off, 2 min on, 2 min off, etc.

On paces were between 6:54-6:27. Off pace was around 9:30-40. I finished out the rest of the miles around a 8:20 min/mile pace to make it an even 10.

I used to do this workout with the "on" pace around 6:20. Woopsie. Looks like I've lost a bit of speed. But I'm okay with this. Sometimes its good to take it a little easier for a while right? Right.

The hubster got to go into work late today, so that sweet gift turned into a long run for me. Merry Christmas to me. I felt great today. I forget how much I love running outside. The weather was great. I started out slow and gradually got faster. I think thats just how my body likes to do it. Overall pace was 8:15.

Average pace 8:20. A lot more effort to keep a good pace. Not surprising since yesterday felt so great. You win some you lose some.
