Running Accomplishments:

I've been running for the past 25 years.  I ran my first marathon at age 50 and have run 3 since then.  I run 5K's, 10K's and half-marathons.   I ran the Ogden Marathon in 2006 and finished in 4:35.  I won Thrid Place in my age group.

Three of my daughters and I ran the Ogden Half Marathon.  They did great and I was glad to just finish.  I ran the Riverton 1/2 marathon the end of March and pulled my hamstring and then got bursitis so I wasn't able to train as much as I wanted to.

I have slowed down a lot the past 10 years so my goal now is to keep running slow and steady until I die.  I also ride bikes and am as fast as my daughters.

We have now switched from Marathons to 1/2 marathons and Triathlons.  Last year Leslie and I did the Desert Sharks Triathlon and Daybreak.  I won first in my age group in both because there are not many people in my age group.

2010  Riverton Half Marathon 3rd in age group

Daybreak Triahtlon 2010 1st in age group

South Jordan Half Marathon 2010 1st in my age group

Riverton 10K 2010 1st in my age group

Vikingman Triathlon September 10 2010  Won 1st in my age because I was the only one in my age group

March 2011 Riverton 1/2 Marathon 1st in my age group and there were actually 6 people in my age group.

I did my arm weight exercises after work and a short nap.  After dinner Leslie and I swam at Marv's.  I did 20 laps and took a short break and did 6 more laps.

Met the group at the church on 102nd and 40th West.  For our early run we ran from the church up the road and through the subdivision then back out to 40th.  I was quite far behind by then so while they crossed the street and kept going east I turned south on 40th west and headed back to the church.  When I got back to the church I turned east and ran down and met the other runners and came back to the church.  With my shortcut I think I ran 2.5 instead of 3.  For the second part we ran south on 40th west up the hill to the temple.  The group turned west through the temple parking lot but I just kept going straight past the temple and down the other side and then I turned around and headed back because I had to be to work at 7.

I did my leg weight/stomach exercises along with 60 men's pushups.  My arms were extra tired from lift 20 50# bags of flour and other heavy cases of food at work.  We were too lazy to swim tonight.

Met the BBK's at the Trailhead on 98th for the early miles.  At first I was the only one there but Julie and Kellie got there at 5:15 and then after we got out of our cars and decided where to run several more people came.  We went north along the trail to the end and then turned around. I started ahead of everyone so when we turned around I was still ahead of a few people.  Then we passed the parking lot and kept going south.  Everyone was ahead of me by then but I kept going until they all turned around and headed back.  For the second part we had a few more people.  We headed north again but didn't go clear to the end.  Then we turned around and headed south.  They all stopped at the parking lot to decided what they were going to do.  I kept going because I knew they would all pass me.  After everyone passed and were a way down the trail I tripped and fell.  I got road rash on my arm, shoulder and knee.  I jumped back up and kept going.  We ran past 106th and down the trail a ways and then when everyone turned around so did I.  They all stopped after crossing under 106th going north but I kept going back to the car because I had to be to work at 7am.  After work I laid down for a short nap and then the phone rang and woke me up.  As I turned to answer the phone I noticed that my shoulder was really hurting.  If I move a certain way it really hurts.  I hope it will be okay for my 60 mile bike ride on Saturday.

Leslie and I did our Goldilocks 60 miles bike ride today and since I don't know how to put in under biking I put in under running.  Boy 60 miles is a long ride.  We stopped at one rest stop and at Daybreak for lunch and it took us just over 5 and a half hours.  We started out at Herriman Park and wove around through the subdivision and out to the 134th and up past Butterfield Canyon and Kennecott.  Then we rode east on 118th to 3600 west and then north to 144th and out to Redwood Road.  Then we rode south to Camp Williams where we had our first rest stop.  It's a good thing we had a rest stop there because coming up the hill I got a flat tire.  When we got to the rest stop there was a man fixing tires so I figured he was a volunteer with the race to help fix bikes.  I took my bike back and he fixed it.  Then I found out he was just following his wife and just helping to be nice.  I'm glad he fixed my flat because it probably would have taken me an hour.  We had snacks and used the portapotty.  Then we continued south for a while and turned east and then went south again for a while then east and then we went through Thanksgiving Point and then started north.  Boy there were sure lots of hills.  Then we went west on 118th and then turned north and ended up at Daybreak for lunch.  After lunch we rode back up 118th to highway 111 and then north to the Old Bingham Highway.  Then we went east to 40th west and then south past the Oquirrh Temple and then west past Daybreak and turned south at 6400 west and then when we got to Rosecrest Subdivision we wove around the subdivision for a while and ended up at Herriman Park.  It was a long ride and I was tired.  I went quite slow because I waited for Leslie.  She still isn't feeling up to par and felt quite sick and tired by the end.  I finally convinced her that she should get a check-up.  We saw people from our Tri class and Kris Bullock and Michelle Margetts from running group.  I really enjoyed the ride.
