Happy Halloween!  I am feeling happy about the fact that I didn't actually purchase ANY Halloween candy this year.  I still had half of a bag of Halloween candy left over from last year which I gave out at our Church's Trunk or Treat party on Friday night.  You may think that is rude to hand out old candy to unsuspecting children but I actually tasted a couple of pieces myself and I assure you it tasted completely normal. Makes me wonder about the ingredients they put in that stuff.

Anyway, after my kids organized (you know the drill, lining up all the different types and stacking the multiples) and binged on candy for 24 hours, I asked them for donations from their abundant supplies and we filled up a bowl with enough candy to hand out to Trick or Treaters tonight.  We stayed home and played games while the doorbell rang every few minutes for an hour or so and I smiled as I watched my kids hand out their own candy to other neighbors and friends.  Now we're down to just a few pieces per kid remaining.  Thank goodness.

Great idea! We live so far out in the boonies we did not get one trick-or-treater ...

Whoops, premature 'post'. Dean bought some candy (to ward off trick-or-treaters) now I have to bring the bag into work to get rid of them (I am not as good as you, if it is in the house, I might eat it despite all good intentions not to). Maybe I should send it to you for next year ;-).

Oh believe me, I eat it too, which is why I am so happy to purge it from the house. The only reason I didn't eat last year's is because it was intentionally placed in a box with three other boxes stacked on top of it in our storage room. It was just too much hassle to get to it and I forgot about it. With all the packing I've been doing lately, I was surprised to find the half bag and celebrated the fact that I didn't need to buy any more candy this year.
