This was the hardest race I've ever run and I have the bruises and cuts to prove it.

Discrete Trail Series Alta race. Not really running except for a mile or two, Mostly hiking, rock climbing, mountain climbing, bouldering, falling down, and whining inside my head.

Feast your eyes on these splits...

Mile 1 - 19:06

Mile 2 - 21:07

Mile 3 - 19:44

Mile 4 - 15:25

Mile 5 - 5:53

Mile 6 - 6:43

I think they pretty much tell the story. I won't be running this one again.

AM: Easy swim, walk, hot tub.

The good news is that I'm not really sore from yesterday except fot where I'm bruised from falling. Still, thought I should pay attention to recovery today. Maybe some easy running later.

So I took another day off. I ate a lot and probably gained about 12 pounds. Wiped out all my fitness gains from the summer.

So this Donald Trump guy seems to be a big deal these days.

6.25 blistering miles in the PM heat.

Ann and I are heading to The Depot tonight in downtown SLC to see Jason Isbell - my favorite singer of the last couple years ever since I heard him sing "Outfit" with his old band, The Drive by Truckers.

AM: 3 mile walk with Andy. Lawn mowing, strenuous yard work.

PM: 5 miles around Liberty Park.

I'm not quite right running-wise. Haven't felt any real energy for a couple weeks. Probably running Jupiter Peak and the trail race at Alta in back to back weekends, while hardcore and manly, was also dumb.

That's 2.5 hours of hard racing one weekend and 1.5 the next on consecutive weekends - and not the type of racing I'm necessarily used to. It's just been a GRIND this week to get in some minescule runs.

I'm not too alarmed. I'll try to take it easy, get some rest, and eat better.

Actually. I'm not alarmed at all. Just the way it is.
