9.5 miles on the treadmill averaging 8 mph. Got it up to 9 mph for a while. Beautiful day, but I'm being cautious with the foot before the trail run up at Alta tomorrow.
I finished Scott Jurek's book. I'll have to write a review soon.

I just finished it too. Did you like it? I found it entertaining and worth while but it was a little depressing. I found it odd that it actually made me want to do an Ultra more, it would scare most people away.

I'll plan on joining you guys up there starting next week... no trail runs before Duluth!

I just finished Jurek's book as well. I have very mixed feelings about it so I look forward to your review!

It actually really annoyed me. Anytime he was about to get anywhere below the surface all of a sudden there was a recipe and a complete change of subject. I thought if he mentioned how much he likes guacamole one more time I was going to... I did get some things out of it (I did just pick up some Udo's oil and I already made his curry :) but it could have been so much more!

Totally agree, the recipes should have just been at the end of the book. I did get guacamole on my sub for lunch today though.
I also hated how the book starts with him laying face down dying in the desert and you think there is going to be some lifelong lesson on humility and then he somehow jumps up and wins the race? What is this, Rocky?

well based on these reviews, it sounds like i'm only going to swear off trail running if i read this one, and i don't want to do that, so i'm crossing it off the list. i don't need some hippie trail dude to tell me that avocados are delicious - i figured that out years ago on my own! :-)

You also learn that running 100+ miles in 100+ degree heat is hard.
Sorry Rob, I know you hate it when I hijack your blog but I've been dying to talk to someone about this book.

Spoiler Alert!!

Oooh I've wanted to talk to someone too... I guess I was sort taken aback by how competitive and serious he was being a hippie, vegan in VW van and all. There was seriously something missing with this guy and I can't put my finger on what exactly it is.
Jake - I will bring you the book tomorrow so you have something to read on the plane :)

He's one very angry hippie.
