Personal:

I used to run for BYU, but only after trying out three times and finally walking on, so I was never a star. However, it was wonderful to run with great people and under Coach Shane. When you run with fast people, you can't help to improve! I graduated BYU in 1998, and didn't run a race until 2002, after having my second child. My hiatus and other crazy life commitments have made my competitive running suffer, but the last couple of years I have tried to get back into it the best I can. I have been married since 1996, to Paul Lowry, who is a runner himself. I have three boys (my three rascals), ages 12, 10, and 8.

After a great 2008 season, I was injured and eventually diagnosed and cross-diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis, a type of arthritis disease, which precludes running for all but the most stubborn.  So I am on medications, trying to stay healthy, and seeing my PT often.  And running!  Now beating the streets in Hong Kong.

Some SI pain getting out of bed, about a 2.  I am going to be a good girl and stay on my crutches.  We are going to the Air Show at the Hill AFB today, so there'll be plenty of opportunity to crutch today.

Well, I got back in the saddle today and finished the Squaw Peak 50-mile race, a little slower than usual with a sore foot/ankle the entire way. (Just blocked out the pain). I might need your crutches tomorrow ;) No, I actually think it helped strengthen the problem. Hope you continue to mend.

Lion Queen, can you do any pool rehab. From experience, just doing something active without pain really benefits the mental side.

Brent - don't I wish. The last time I pool walked in the pool it caused pain. But so does anything else. I'm on a four weeks of nothing plan, but two weeks into it, I am still in pain, so not sure if even "nothing" is working. Thanks for checking in with me. I hope this will pass.

OOo air show! Woot! Never been. That sounds like fun! Imagine if you had a segway instead of crutches!! That'd be awesome. Zooming downtown at 20-30 mph :-D wind in your face, WWI style fighter pilot goggles on. It truly would be an amazing sight!

Teena - the air show was great, except a ton of walking around (about 2 miles on crutches I'd guess) and 4 hours of driving. It's pretty much a once in a decade event. The thunderbirds were really great.

Benn - a segway would be great. The goggles, not sure if that'd be necessary, but combine those with a cool flight jacket and scarf I could be pretty styling.

I used to enjoy watching the air show from my house. We lived right over the flight path in Layton. I hope you didn't get stuck in all those horrible accidents/traffic.
