Personal:

I used to run for BYU, but only after trying out three times and finally walking on, so I was never a star. However, it was wonderful to run with great people and under Coach Shane. When you run with fast people, you can't help to improve! I graduated BYU in 1998, and didn't run a race until 2002, after having my second child. My hiatus and other crazy life commitments have made my competitive running suffer, but the last couple of years I have tried to get back into it the best I can. I have been married since 1996, to Paul Lowry, who is a runner himself. I have three boys (my three rascals), ages 12, 10, and 8.

After a great 2008 season, I was injured and eventually diagnosed and cross-diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis, a type of arthritis disease, which precludes running for all but the most stubborn.  So I am on medications, trying to stay healthy, and seeing my PT often.  And running!  Now beating the streets in Hong Kong.

I've been doing all kinds of visualizations, if I am feeling fresh and great, if I have sluggish periods, if I need to back off, if I feel like I felt at mile 24 in St G at mile 24 in PF Chang --like death 0 fight on, fight for every ten seconds I can.

The air should be thick, my legs felt good today, so they should feel fresh for the race.  Now just time to relax, sleep, eat right and relax (i know I said it twice, its for emphasis :) ).

I was thinking you were tapering for Painters but you are doing PF? WOW you are awesome!!! Go Woman Go. You are going to do awesome. Visualize the finish line tape that you get to break!!!

I'll be cheering for you. I was reading the St. George Marathon result book last night and got excited every time I saw your name. (Of course, I also noticed that the cover picture DEFINITELY was not from this year).

You have put in the work, and now its time to savor all that hard work!!! I think you are going to blow the doors off PFM, I just have a feeling;-D

Julie - That's sweet, but they do have a nice fat purse and international racers, so I am not likely to break any tape for this race. It will be fun to race with (behind) truly elite women. Might even see some bummies :)

Maurine - did you have to pay for that book? I haven't ever seen a results book. All my pictures from this year were bad, I looked like a wet running rodent!

Clay - thanks man! Keep sending those positive vibes my way. I'll have a piece of you with me during the whole race (your watch).

My SGM booklet came in the mail yesterday. If you don't get your's within a week or so, then call the city and they will send one.

i am glad you are emphasizing RELAX. you have been working SO HARD and you are going to do great. i will be cheering like crazy at the finish line...just don't beat me there! (1/2 starts at 8:30, so that gives me 1:50 or so to finish before you come through. hope i can do it!) do you have a goal time? even though it won't count yet, an OTQ time is a definite for you!
