Personal:

I used to run for BYU, but only after trying out three times and finally walking on, so I was never a star. However, it was wonderful to run with great people and under Coach Shane. When you run with fast people, you can't help to improve! I graduated BYU in 1998, and didn't run a race until 2002, after having my second child. My hiatus and other crazy life commitments have made my competitive running suffer, but the last couple of years I have tried to get back into it the best I can. I have been married since 1996, to Paul Lowry, who is a runner himself. I have three boys (my three rascals), ages 12, 10, and 8.

After a great 2008 season, I was injured and eventually diagnosed and cross-diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis, a type of arthritis disease, which precludes running for all but the most stubborn.  So I am on medications, trying to stay healthy, and seeing my PT often.  And running!  Now beating the streets in Hong Kong.

Indoor warm up,

then met MacK.

Plan was 5 mile tempo @ 6:27-6:38 pace.  6:27 is supposed to be my 1/2 marathon pace, but I need to build up endurance to be able to really do that.

32:38 for whole thing.  Splits were 6:33, 6:34, 6:29, 6:34, 6:27

Felt hard but ok.  Upper right ham not pleased.  Going to see if can get into PT today.

Nice tempo run girl! That's "true-tempo" my tempo runs as of late have been half-hearted and slow, , , , , but Marcie and I always say, "Michelle does what she plans,,," Love your determination, , , you aren't afraid of some gut-renching hard work! Love it!

I think you can safely say your half MP is where you want it to be, even faster if you were running down Hobble Creek. You are amazing girl. I have to do that pace for 1/2 mile repeats, not consecutively for 5 miles. Truly amazing, great comeback. Go MICHELLE!!!

You are the most determined person I know. Everytime I think about what you do, and how much work it is, I know I should never complain about my performance. It takes work. You are a true champion. I hope you stay limber and uninjured, be good to your body for its performance. It looks like the real training really underway. Keep up the good work!

Thanks everyone. I do see my determination as a strength, but have some serious work to get this to be my true 1/2 pace. Marion- agree on the torture comment - hurts so good.
