Personal:

I used to run for BYU, but only after trying out three times and finally walking on, so I was never a star. However, it was wonderful to run with great people and under Coach Shane. When you run with fast people, you can't help to improve! I graduated BYU in 1998, and didn't run a race until 2002, after having my second child. My hiatus and other crazy life commitments have made my competitive running suffer, but the last couple of years I have tried to get back into it the best I can. I have been married since 1996, to Paul Lowry, who is a runner himself. I have three boys (my three rascals), ages 12, 10, and 8.

After a great 2008 season, I was injured and eventually diagnosed and cross-diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis, a type of arthritis disease, which precludes running for all but the most stubborn.  So I am on medications, trying to stay healthy, and seeing my PT often.  And running!  Now beating the streets in Hong Kong.

Met MacK and did a walking warm up, stretching, then 8 miles into Payson and back to Salem, stopping at Smith's, then to Marion's house, where we peeked into her front window (there should be a forehead smudge to prove it), no one was there, so we moved along.  I meant to run 7 miles, but again ran an extra mile in error.  Sounds disingenuous but it is totally true!  I guess I'll have to pay attention to the watch a little better.  Ran 8 (8:11 pace) and total distance was 13.1.  So Luz, I got in my Halloween half, but not with the fanfare or fun of yours, I am sure.  But MacK was good company.

Anyone have any good ideas for Utah county Halloween activities for midday?

I have to say it is great to see your mileage steadily moving in the right direction!

You've got to be BOLD and ring the doorbell next time :) You might have gotten treats :)

Mid-day activities- make suckers, attend funerals, yell at kids to clean the house :)

Note from yesterday's entry- CLEANING HOUSE FUN??? Are you nuts???

Nice run Michelle.

Awesome. I've 'accidentally' run an extra mile lots of times. I think that it's a good sign you're feeling fine. It is only possible to lose track of time when you're not feeling the effort. Good for you! I'm so glad you got your 13.1 in. The Provo Half was great. Although, I'm not sure your 'entertainment' standards have sunk as low as mine yet, but those of us who went had a blast (all except the bussing and late start problems). I'm so glad you are feeling great. I hope the rest of Halloween was as great as your run!

Thanks Adam! I am trying to inch up responsibly.

Marion--next time I am going to breath hard and draw you a heart :D Cleaning house is fun only if you are doing projects you know you aren't going to do again for a while, not like sweeping the kitchen floor, which is ruined after one meal.

Thanks Bec! Nice race yourself on Saturday. I guess I could have walked/run it, maybe next year.

Luz - it would have been way fun, my high and lofty standards--like pig wrestling in mud in a third rate rodeo arena.

Ahhhh yes, touche. Lest we ever forget the depths to which we have sunk in the name of entertainment, give thanks to the internet, for all the world and history to bear witness.
