Personal:

I used to run for BYU, but only after trying out three times and finally walking on, so I was never a star. However, it was wonderful to run with great people and under Coach Shane. When you run with fast people, you can't help to improve! I graduated BYU in 1998, and didn't run a race until 2002, after having my second child. My hiatus and other crazy life commitments have made my competitive running suffer, but the last couple of years I have tried to get back into it the best I can. I have been married since 1996, to Paul Lowry, who is a runner himself. I have three boys (my three rascals), ages 12, 10, and 8.

After a great 2008 season, I was injured and eventually diagnosed and cross-diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis, a type of arthritis disease, which precludes running for all but the most stubborn.  So I am on medications, trying to stay healthy, and seeing my PT often.  And running!  Now beating the streets in Hong Kong.

Felt much better last night and just some low level pain rotating in bed this morning.  Some slight soreness, pain level 1, when walking at times.  My crutches are just dulling the heel strike a little. 

Night pain 2-3 at times while rotating.

I had entered my workout today on the wrong day ... so once I switched it over all of our comments were deleted.

Just wanted to make sure you got my response, so here it is again :)

"To be honest, I have no idea if that is what is making the difference for me or not. However, one of my theories is that if there was a lot of inflammation that perhaps the adductor tendons had to pull harder on my sf site causing more pain. I don't know. It's all so speculative at this point. All I know is that I don't dare change anything in fear of another setback. Once things feel normal I will start experimenting without things. But for now I'm leaving them alone.

I also use the kinesio tape to help stabalize the area. I saw some really cool things you can do with the tape for the piriformis as well. I don't think it is getting at the root of the problem, but perhaps helping with some of the compensatory stuff.

Who really knows!! Sometimes I feel like it's just a crap shoot trying to figure this stuff out."
