Personal:

I used to run for BYU, but only after trying out three times and finally walking on, so I was never a star. However, it was wonderful to run with great people and under Coach Shane. When you run with fast people, you can't help to improve! I graduated BYU in 1998, and didn't run a race until 2002, after having my second child. My hiatus and other crazy life commitments have made my competitive running suffer, but the last couple of years I have tried to get back into it the best I can. I have been married since 1996, to Paul Lowry, who is a runner himself. I have three boys (my three rascals), ages 12, 10, and 8.

After a great 2008 season, I was injured and eventually diagnosed and cross-diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis, a type of arthritis disease, which precludes running for all but the most stubborn.  So I am on medications, trying to stay healthy, and seeing my PT often.  And running!  Now beating the streets in Hong Kong.

AM: Ran with my new shoes, New Balance 755 Cushion Trainer so I updated my blog format to allow for shoe tracking. And what the heck, I will track my sleep too which will make you all woosy to read really soon once my sleep drops. I worked for about 3/4 an hour then jumped on the tread mill for 7.5, set the pace for 7:30 and cruised. I think that is my fastest easy pace, but if you disagree, please let me know :). I think I will be out this afternoon for a shorter second run. I am grateful I have a treadmill. Today marks 12 weeks until tax season is over. If I run through this week then I will have 11.5 week slow down. If I can run normal miles next week then it will be a 10.5 week slow down. It will be hard to squeeze it in next week though, the crunch is already starting, though in embryo stage as of now.

Weighed 120.5 yesterday, 123 today, though I ate really well yesterday. Take it with a grain of salt. (or a grain of whole wheat would be healthier, eh?!?).

PM: Ran in Mizunos as snow fell in Woodland Hills.  It is so hilly up here it made the first 1.5 miles pretty miserable.  Snow falling, slush on the roads, high altitude, hills everywhere, made for a rather unpleasant afternoon run.  I though my ave pace would be about 9:30 but in fact it was 8:30.  Perhaps this is why I seldom do 2-a-days.

Michelle, I love your new blog name..."Super Chick!" How appropriate. I keep meaning to give you a call and talk a bit more in depth about your race. You did awesome! I've been having a rough week. I'm about to sign off; I've got dinner and YW's to get ready for. I'll catch up with you hopefully in the next two days. Good job on your miles today.

I have a hard time with 2 a days for the same reason and they just take up to much time. I would rather get my mileage in all at once when ever possible.

Oh ya I love the new name "SUPER CHICK"
