Short-Term Running Goals: keep running, stay fit and healthy, while having fun. Would like to get my mileage up to 25 miles a week and plan some short races when I get confident with my speed. | When I got off work this A.M. driving home the temp. outside was 69 degrees. I knew I should go out and do a couple of miles, but I was just too tired! I knew I would regret it later, and I was right. So when I got up around 12:30 I worked on a few skirts for the trek and then decided no time like the present and headed for the treadmill ( Yes, you heard correctly the treadmill ) I knew I wouldn't get around to it later so that was the only alternative. I did 2 miles and then stopped and stetched for a minute and then 1 mile stopped and stretched again and then 1 more mile for a total of 4. I don't know why the treadmill is so mentally tough for me. The stretching was more of a mental rest than physical just to get through. But now I am off to make bonnets! Maybe the treadmill wasn't so bad, I am not much of a seamstress and the fits and fights that I sometimes get into with the sewing machine can rival any well meant two yearolds tantrum, only I can't send it for a timeout because in the end I am at it's mercy! Wish me luck! I think actually pulling the handcarts will be like cake compared to the 6 skirts and 3 bonnets I'm somehow trying to produce :) | Comments(1) |

| When I got up this morning even though I slept in a little late, (I had told myself that I would get up early and run when it was cool, but at 1:00 a.m. when I went to bed last night I changed my mind) so I got up and went out about 8:30. It still felt pretty cool and was a little overcast so I thought I should get a longer run in. I haven't had anything over 4-5 miles in almost a month. It actually felt really good. I found little sprinklers along the way and then about mile four I was on a new road they are paving and I ran past a water truck that was spraying the road and it really got me wet! It felt oh so nice and I think thats why I convinced myself to do a few extra miles (Yea!) Well off to make one more skirt, I ran into a friend in Walmart yesterday trying to figure out what she needed to make her skirts for the trek and I realized her sewing skills might be worse off than mine ( If that could be possible?) so one more to go :) | Comments(2) |

| Walked seven miles around Martins Cove. It was a little warm but we had a good time. Except for the womens pull, I really got my work out for the day there. They picked the sandiest steepest hill they could find! It was brutal, I got to do that twice! | Add Comment |

| Today we walked 9 miles. The first 4.5 felt like no big deal! We stopped and rested, listened to some speakers and then we were off! 4.5 back should be easy enough right! Wrong! Three very large and somewhat sandy hills later 3 mud bogs and 3 river crossings( That was the fun part at the end) we finally made it back. I was worn out! | Add Comment |
