After two days with out running I thought I would try to see if my shin felt any better. My friends had invited me to run Ben Lomond Peak (sorry for the spelling), but that would be about 41/2 hours and I just didn't think I wanted to push myself that much.

So I ran the same path that I did last Thursday when I ran the trails at night. It was pretty nice. My shins didn't hurt the entire run... but started hurting when I was walking around a bit after. Hmmm wonder what is going on.

I didn't time myself, but I figured I was at about 10 minute miles.

8 miles.

Nice workout. Hope those shins stop bothering you soon. Now can't you get a nice Pilgrim outfit or a Mrs. Santa suit? I swear that is the creepiest mask ever. It's just how I think I look if I don't run for a while. ;)

LOL snoqualmie That is not a mask, she is a life size witch that I sculpted to stand on my porch at Halloween, guess I need to find a new pic to post.

I hope the shin feel better so too. :)

Nice miles Lori! My shin is still bothering me too... Have you tried taking ibuprofen to see if it helps? What about a visit to the doc? I hope the pain stops soon!

From Metcalf Running on Mon, Nov 24, 2008 at 08:21:16

Lucia,

I have iced.. ibuprofen... but not consistently, it helps a bit, but not too much. I think if they don't feel better soon I'm going to head to a doc to see his opinion.

I am so glad the run went well! :D Have you looked online to see what type of shin problem you are looking at?

From Metcalf Running on Mon, Nov 24, 2008 at 15:05:19

Marion,

From what I have looked at.. I'm 99.9% certain it's shin splints.. :( But I do think they are getting better. It just seems to be taken fooorrr eeeevvvvvverr (Sand Lot) LOL But I'm not the most patient person either. It probably would help if I was a bit more diligent with the iceing. I'm sure in a few more weeks I will be fine. But until then...I probably will complain more :)
