AM   Tempo run this morning up and down SRL,  2.50 mile w/u - 10 mile tempo at a 6.58 pace (149-150 average HR) - 2.50 mile c/d.  It was getting hard to hold the pace over the last 2.5 miles of the tempo this morning. Overall a good runand the hamstring felt fine this morning.     I have made up my mind to run Deseret News Marathon again, this is a race that I completely failed over the last 6 miles and want another shot at making it. I is a fun race but just can' t get the last 6 out of my head  as to how bad I felt.  A whole new game plan and training for this one.

PM   4.17 mile easy run from Freeman Park and around the Greenbelt and back.

Wow, awesome run!! You are really tearing up the asphalt. Glad I didn't run with you this morning! ;)

Great run today, Marlin. I admire your determination to conquer that race! You'll be amazing.

That's a really long tempo. Don't know that I've ever attepted a tempo longer than 6M. You're a machine!

Good luck at Des News. I'm sure you'll tear it up. Goin for sub 3?

Neil, a sub 3 - lol - I am to old to run that. The tempo run was in line with my training but the w/u and c/d sure wasn't, I never go that long before and after my tempo's but it was nice and cool and no wind on the w/u and an amazing sunrise after the tempo run I wanted to enjoy it.

Too old? Hogwash! You're in your prime!

I was thinking about running Des New marathon as well. I would use it as a good training run to get the legs used to the downhill portion. I've ran it once already and felt really good in the last 6 miles. The key is being conservative on the downhill. That helps the legs not hammer the quads too hard when you reach mile 20.
