Long-Term Running Goals: Maintain my health and continuously seek to improve my fitness. Maybe someday get under 3:00 for marathon. More importantly, I'd like to figure out what my maximum ability is and reach that.
I'd also like to find the right balance in life and use running to enhance and improve myself.
Personal: Dad of three (welcome Charlotte Dani on 8/10/20) awesome kids and stepdad to three almost as awesome as my own kids.
I have a brown dog named Stella, and three cats - Catty, Tortie, and Esperanza.
(old lines that were a little out of date but couldn't quite bring myself to removing them completely:) Also, have one wonderful brown dog named Sammy and just added a grey tiger cat (Catty) whose life started out rough but now has a better home.
I've recently started another blog so I can easily add lots of pictures and so other non-FRB users can leave comments:
Forward Progress!
Also, for 2012 I started a blog to write down each day one thing that I am grateful for

First run back after the 100 mile race, went much better than expected. Ran with Jamie and wasn't sure how far I'd make it but the slow pace (which gradually picked up) felt good. Ran in the neighborhood out to Fox Hollow and turned around at the water fountain.
PM - 2.57 mi, 24:33, 9:34 avg
Ran with Stella on the Starkey Blvd bike trail with the "Humpday Hustle" crew. Her second longest run so far, she was happy and full of energy.

Ran with Jamie in the neighborhood, felt about the same as yesterday, not too bad.

Ran in the neighborhood. Used heart rate strap to see where I was at. Pretty good pace for recovery run, had one mile just barely under 9:00 pace. Felt one small notch better than yesterday.

Ran in Starkey Park with the Striders. Fun to see all the runners how had run Chicago Marathon last week and appreciated all of the congrats for my 100 miler. But, especially nice to see David Griner who I hadn't seen for a while and had given the group a collective scare (but more so him and his family) about bone cancer which thankfully is dormant for now.
I ran out to the 4 mile waterstop strictly keeping to 131 bpm or under. When I turned around I did 1 under 9:00 mile (8:36) without looking at heart rate and it turned out it was 128 avg. Then did another HR mile followed by one more sub-9:00 (8:09) but this time HR was way up at 142 average for that mile, and finally last mile easy (9;43).
Weather was great, a little cooler with a very light sprinkling of rain.
