Short-Term Running Goals:

  • Sub 40:00 10K
  • 2:59 Marathon
  • 1:25 Half Marathon
  • 18:30 5K

Long-Term Running Goals:

Maintain my health and continuously seek to improve my fitness. Maybe someday get under 3:00 for marathon. More importantly, I'd like to figure out what my maximum ability is and reach that.

I'd also like to find the right balance in life and use running to enhance and improve myself.

Personal:

Dad of  three (welcome Charlotte Dani on 8/10/20) awesome kids and stepdad to three almost as awesome as my own kids.

I have a brown dog named Stella, and three cats - Catty, Tortie, and Esperanza.

(old lines that were a little out of date but couldn't quite bring myself to removing them completely:) Also, have one wonderful brown dog named Sammy and just added a grey tiger cat (Catty) whose life started out rough but now has a better home.

I've recently started another blog so I can easily add lots of pictures and so other non-FRB users can leave comments:

Forward Progress!

Also, for 2012 I started a blog to write down each day one thing that I am grateful for

Grateful Blog

Love living in Florida but love to travel and see the country and rest of the world.

A.M. - 5.65 mi 00:49 08:36 pace

Trying to start the week off right, hopefully a run should help.

Just one more day left of school for the boys after today

P.M. - 1 mi

Thomas wanted to run tonight but didn't want to do the neighborhood loop. So, after a short warm up we did some sprints to a sign and back (about 200m round trip), I think we did it about 5 times. Fastest one was 36 seconds. He said he felt like running fast tonight.

Ran at the Y with the Striders.  Felt ok, run was a little better than last Tuesday. 80 degrees.

Last day of school.  Younger one has just one more year at the elementary school.  It seems like just yesterday (but was two years ago), that both boys were getting on their bikes for their last trip by bike to the same school together.

Went to Nancy R. 's spin class at 5:30. I forgot my towel again so Beka loaned me her spare. Class was hard as usual - getting something out of it if I'm still struggling!

Went for a short run when I got home, out to water and back, run was hard at first (felt like I had just done a difficult spin class!), better on the way back.

House was quiet.  Sammy getting knee surgery today, torn ACL repair which we had been putting off in hopes it would get better on its own.  Was grateful to find a vet that was close by that does a lot of these and charges less money than the big fancy place we were referred to initially which is farther away.

Cooler out this morning after yesterday's rain. Ran mainly with Keith. We kept a steady pace throughout. Run felt good today.

Beer and wings last night made for a run with a slow start and a suspenseful ending of whether or not I would make it back without finding a place for a pit stop. I don't do this very often, actually usually just if going out for a work function, but a friend of mine invited me out to catch up on things.

But, actually it was a pretty good run besides that, coolish after rainy weather

Goose Egg for today.

I was going to do 12-14 miles, starting out at Longleaf at 5:30.  Was possibly going to meet one other person.  I was feeling run down on Friday night, didn't sleep well, kept on waking up to cough and I had a lot of stuff to do and could not afford to be down for the day.

I texted my friend at 5:00 to say I was not coming but was not sure if I had the right number, so I went over there just in case (only 2 miles away), waited for a bit then went back home.  She later texted back to say that she had slept in too.  Woke up about 8:30 and felt a good deal better but felt like I was fighting something.

I can't remember that last time I canceled a run, but I think it was the right choice today.
