Long-Term Running Goals: Maintain my health and continuously seek to improve my fitness. Maybe someday get under 3:00 for marathon. More importantly, I'd like to figure out what my maximum ability is and reach that.
I'd also like to find the right balance in life and use running to enhance and improve myself.
Personal: Dad of three (welcome Charlotte Dani on 8/10/20) awesome kids and stepdad to three almost as awesome as my own kids.
I have a brown dog named Stella, and three cats - Catty, Tortie, and Esperanza.
(old lines that were a little out of date but couldn't quite bring myself to removing them completely:) Also, have one wonderful brown dog named Sammy and just added a grey tiger cat (Catty) whose life started out rough but now has a better home.
I've recently started another blog so I can easily add lots of pictures and so other non-FRB users can leave comments:
Forward Progress!
Also, for 2012 I started a blog to write down each day one thing that I am grateful for

Annual Memorial Day get together with the Striders. Ran w Renee, Joe and Cynthia. Did 4 strides at the end. Just missed the veteran's group picture. Hung around a bit for coffee and snacks, drove back home and did a couple more miles in the neighborhood.
My legs felt surprisingly good today. Sunday morning I woke up feeling extra tired, but a day of rest can do wonders.

Ran at the Y with the Striders. Very thin crowd this morning due to yesterday's run at Longleaf. 75 degrees and a bit sticky. Decided to step up the intervals, did 6x800, paces: 6:26, 5:59, 5:52, 5:48, 6:13, 5:57
I had been shying away from these challenges more and more, time to go back the other way before they seem out of reach.

Magnificent miles, through neighborhood and then out and back on Trinity Blvd grassy shoulder. Coolish morning.
The usual stuff - said hi to people, listened to music, stopped at the water fountain for a gel about halfway, started out slow and cruised in the last mile. Grateful for some good things that don't seem to change.

Little bit of a late start, but still cool enough. Trying to get at least 5 in but managed 7. Sometimes setting your sights low is what gets you out the door! Mostly easy paced miles.
Neighborhood route with golf course water (but no gel today). So far so good with consistency this week.

I was hoping to get in at least 8 miles but was also dreading it a bit.
But, fortunately, I ran into Joe while starting out. Ran past golf course, to Trinity Oaks and then to the Y and back (although a slightly different route). Reasonably cool out either that or getting used to it.

Started out in Starkey Park about 6:45. Ran into Cynthia and Co. as they were running in, then joined them for a few miles before they turned back. I stopped briefly at the 4 mile water then caught up with Claudia as she ran by and stuck with her a bit over a mile. I headed out to the Suncoast trail for a bit then turned around. Did mile 11 at 6:35 and mile 15 at 6:48 with the other return trip miles between 7:15 and 7:45. Humid but just barely on the cool side (except at the very end). Nice, slightly overcast morning great for running.
This was one of my fastest long runs in a while. I thought I would try something different when I did the pick up at mile 11 instead of at the very end. It had also been a while since I ran out onto the Suncoast trail from the Starkey park trail, felt like old times! I didn't see much in the way of interesting wildlife (i.e. no boars, bobcats, alligators or deer) but at least the horse flies weren't too annoying.
