Spent the morning gathering up some last minute supplies for the race then went to the park to pick up my race bib in the afternoon. Ran into Luis and his girlfriend and they offered to let me use their area near the start/finish to keep stuff at and a place to change socks, etc. Marina ended up getting an early start and texted me her ETA.
Went for a short hike up the trail about 0.75 miles then turned back, looks reasonable.
I was going to attend the pre-race meeting but kind of zoned out while sitting in the rental car and listening to the radio so missed the meeting. Met up with Marina, took some pictures then she found the shelter for the people who said she and I could hang out in. Nicest group of runners, very generous to share with basically two strangers. I later found a Youtube video about a guy named Joe running this race and trying to break 24 hours, realized he was being supported by the same run group, Golden Triangle Runners.
Stopped by grocery store on way back to hotel for some dinner. Kept checking the weather, fortunately the rain was coming through earlier and earlier so we wouldn't get rained on that much. Downside is that the trails will be soaked and muddy (not quite as bad as Long Haul, but still..) and there will be unavoidable full-soak water crossings.
